We get put in situations that are hard… because sometimes hard situations cause us to see how much we need God in every situation and that’s what we’re looking at today...

God: It was & always is more than just rules

Mosaic Covenant context - It’s conditional. It’s the law. 613 to be exact!

Mitzvot - A commandment from God to be performed as religious duty

What if the whole point of the Law wasn’t just to follow rules…?

Exodus 19:5-6 - They get excited by the promise. They thought they could measure up.

BUT it was about God saying “You want to live in my presence… Bet… Here’s what holiness looks like!”

(Next few chapters) - He gives them the law

Exodus 24: 3-8 - The covenant is sealed by blood. Half & half.

BEFORE Moses fully comes down, they’ve already messed up the first 2 commandments.

Exodus 32:19-20 AND HE SHOWS US HOW SERIOUS GOD IS

So if they failed… what does that mean?

Romans 3:20 - It means that the law was never meant to save us. Roman’s tell us...

God shows love in the Mosaic Covenant by revealing our need for a Savior.

The whole point was to lead them to the savior, because only a loving God would care about you enough to show you what you need to do.

You: What does this mean for you today?

Only a loving God would show you your need for a savior.

Your struggles might be God’s love leading you to Him

God doesn’t just show you your need… He provides the solution.

We: What would happen if we lived like this?

A church that trusts God even when life is hard

Because your life, marriage, finances, & every struggle will showcase a God of love.
