We are going to be talking about Pastoring and swinging our pendulum towards pastoring students! Pray

Ephesians 4:11–15 “And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ,”
We are called to walk in each one of these offices of ministry
Some people naturally lean to one or another
Ex. Jack
But we are all called to step into each of these in different moments
We have stewarded Wednesday nights really well
The environment is fun, God comes and encounters kids every single Wednesday
We had a glory party 2 weeks ago
We have a really strong students ministry
It is time to steward students really well
What is the point of these night if they walk out at 18?
No discipleship
No relationship
No understanding
It is time to pour into students as we have been poured into
The culture of this team has become a development ground for adult leaders to be developed and lead
It is time to extend that same development to students

Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”

The word train here actually means to "dedicate" in Hebrew
What are you dedicating to these students other then showing up on Wednesdays?
When was the last time you texted a student to check up on them?
When was the last time you connected with their parents to ask how you can serve them?
Do you make a conscious effort to attend their sports games?
My story over the last few weeks
Have a couple oversights
Realize
I am catching things late
I am missing peoples heart
The last 3 weeks I have been getting feedback and seeing the lack of pastoring I have had been in

Here's a couple practical's on how to pastor
Prayer | What happens when you do
Asking the Lord how people are
This will challenge your sensitivity of the Lord
This will allow the Lord to tell you what someone needs
Story of Karah
Started feeling like something was off, seeing consistent unhealth, consistent tiredness
Asked the Lord and he told me “they are in the wrong spot”
If you aren't praying the Lord may not share what is going on, but if you ask him he will
Lord will bring someone up
If he is bringing the same person up again and again, chances are there might need to be a conversation
Touchpoints
Talking with people in the hall
Don't miss out on the how are you and the checkpoints with people because you are so busy
Questions
Grow in the question asking to find out where someone actually is
How are you? What's going on in your life?
Ask what people think and feel
What's going on in your heart?
Find the questions that will get out of the one word answer
Be a professional question asker
You need to be okay calling out the bullcrap
Humbly, respectively, I don’t believe you
Observation
Are they a little too fast to say they are good?
Are they only giving a one word answer?
Are they avoiding having a real conversation?
Is there tone with you changed?
We are asked by the Lord to dedicate ourselves to these students
We can no longer cop out on pastoring these students
1 Timothy 4:12 “Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.”

You lead young people with these things in mind
Speech
Conduct
Love
Faith
Purity
The best way you can do this in this next season is small groups!
Public places
Have fun!!
Ask the Lord how you should spiritually lead them
What did you need when you were their age?
Young leaders is now an intentional service!
We need full buy in from everyone so that we can intentionally pour into our young leaders that are desiring to grow and lead!
