Acknowledge Christ Before Men
INTRO:
Good Morning, I am grateful and honored to be here with you this morning. If there is one thing that I love it is opening up God’s Word to see what our Savior has for us. I love that we serve a God who is not silent. Rather, we serve a God who saves, speaks, and wants to live life with us.
PHYSICAL COPY OF GOD’S WORD -
I want to encourage to bring a physical copy of God’s Word with you, that way you can follow along, highlight, underline, and circle key passages that we talk about. And I pray that God’s Word would be something that you cherish in your life. My hope for you all is that God’s Word, his voice would be familiar and not far off…
For example, I have a good relationship with my dad. And my dad and I have spent so much time together that I could pick his voice out in a crowd. I am so familiar with his voice, that I know when he speaking. I know his go to stories… I know how he talks and what he thinks because I have spent so much time with him…
I hope you would spend so much time with God that his voice would be familiar and not far off…
I am grateful for the messages that we have already heard…
Caleb spoke on the Lord’s Prayer
Jack showed us that Christ is Compassionate towards us and that he loves us
But this week…
TRANSITION - MAIN TEXT
The passage we will be looking at today is Luke 12:8-9…
Luke 12:8–9 (ESV)
“And I tell you, everyone who acknowledges me before men, the Son of Man also will acknowledge before the angels of God, but the one who denies me before men will be denied before the angels of God.
This is Jesus speaking…
And that word denies = “to refuse to recognize”
What you talk about with other people shows what you prioritize and reveals what you think is important…
I often will talk about my wife…
I met my wife when I was in middle school…
Weighing in at about 80 pounds of pure muscle…
I am pretty sure at the time she was taller than me… she still probably is…
But I met my wife when I was in middle school we dated for 7 years before we got married on Feb. 28th of 2019…
When Feb. 28th roles around we will be married for 6 years…
I love talking about her especially with other people because I truly love her… and I know that she truly loves me…
One of my favorite things about my wife is that she has seen the worst things about me, the things that I desperately do not want other people to see, the things that I hide from others people, she has seen… she has seen all my failures, insecurities, and short comings… and yet she sees my at my worst and says, I still love you…
She reminds me of Jesus and the love that he has shown me…
I share this with you because I am more than happy to acknowledge my wife publicly…
Why? Because I prioritize her and she is important to me…
You do not know her, you have not met her, but I love her so much that I can not help but to talk about her…
My hope is that you would be so in love with Christ that you would talk about him with other people… despite what they may think…
Luke 6:45 (ESV)
The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
In other words, the thing you treasure, love, and prioritize most is what you talk about the most…
I hope that your heart would treasure Christ the most… that you would acknowledge public to other people because you love him
That his voice would be familiar and not far off
Please pray with me…
