One of the hardest lessons we will ever learn in life is how to let go and trust God. From the time we are children, we are taught to be independent. We are told to work hard, push forward, take charge, and make things happen. Society rewards those who take control, who fight their way to the top, and who refuse to back down. But while determination and responsibility are good things, there comes a point in life where we run into situations that are beyond our ability to handle. What do you do when your strength isn't enough? What happens when you've done all you can, but the problem still won’t go away? What do you do when the doctor gives a bad report, when the marriage is falling apart, when the bills are piling up and there’s no way out? Natural instinct causes us to panic. We want to fix it, fight it, force it to change. But the more we grasp for control, the more things seem to spin out of control.
Let me make you think and dig deeper down in your thoughts. Have you ever noticed how much we struggle with waiting on God? It’s because we like to be in charge. We like to be the ones calling the shots. We like to have a plan, a backup plan, and an emergency escape plan. But sometimes God will bring us into a place where all our plans fail, where all of our strength runs out, and we are left with no choice but to depend completely on Him. And that is when we hear the still, small voice of God saying:

"Be still, and know that I am God." (Psalm 46:10)

This is not a suggestion—it is a command. God is saying, "Step back. Stop striving. Stop worrying. Stop trying to fix everything. Stop trying to carry what was never meant for you to carry. Get your hands off it and trust that I AM GOD!"
Psalm 46 was written in a time of crisis. The nation of Israel was surrounded by threats. War was on the horizon. The people were afraid, unsure of what would happen next. But in the middle of the chaos, God didn’t say, "Come up with a new battle strategy." He didn’t say, "Run for your lives." He didn’t say, "Figure it out." He said, "Be still, and know that I am God."
That word "still" in Hebrew is raphah, which means to let go, to loosen your grip, to surrender. In other words, God is saying, "Stop trying to hold everything together! Take your hands off the situation and trust me!"
And that is what God is saying to us today. How many of us are guilty of trying to control things that belong in God’s hands? We stress, we strive, we worry, we fight—but God is saying, "Let it go!" Look at your neighbor and tell them “Take your Hands off it!”
Some of us are holding onto:
Our problems—thinking if we just try harder, we can fix them.
Our enemies—thinking if we just say the right words, we can change them
Our salvation—thinking if we just do enough good, we can earn it.
But here’s the truth: We were never meant to carry what only God can handle! That’s why He tells us to be still. But don't just be still… be still AND KNOW!
There’s something powerful about taking your hands off something and putting it into God’s hands. Because when we let go, God steps in. When we surrender, God fights for us. When we stop striving, God moves in ways we never could have imagined. This message is tailored to teach us how to release what we were never meant to hold. It’s about learning to trust God completely—not just when things are easy, but when life feels like it’s falling apart. And when we do, we will see that God has already made a way for us. This text revealed 3 areas of our lives that all of us need to take our hands off.
Our troubles—because God is our refuge. Our enemies—because God will fight for us.Our struggles—because Jesus paid it all. And when we truly surrender, we will see that God is bigger than our problems, stronger than our enemies, and greater than our fears. Are you ready to let go and trust Him? Then look at somebody and tell them “Im taking my hands off of this.”

Point 1: Take Your Hands Off Your Troubles

Every single one of at some point in our walk with God have or will face troubles, trials, and tribulations. Some troubles are small, like a stressful day at work or an unexpected expense. But some troubles are so big, so heavy, so overwhelming that they make us feel like we are drowning. Maybe you’re dealing with a financial crisis, and no matter how hard you work, it never seems to be enough. Maybe you’ve been fighting health problems, and every doctor visit brings more bad news. Maybe your heart is broken because of a relationship that fell apart—someone you trusted betrayed you, someone you loved walked away. Or maybe you’re simply tired—tired of struggling, tired of trying, tired of pretending to be strong when you feel like you’re falling apart.
If that’s you today, allow me the opportunity to remind you of Psalm 46:1: it says "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."
That means God is not far away—He is right there in the middle of your storm! He sees the tears you cry in the midnight hour. He hears the prayers you’re too exhausted to speak. He knows the burden you’ve been carrying, and He’s saying to you today: “Get your hands off it! Give it to me. Stop trying to fix it by yourself. Stop trying to figure everything out. Stop carrying stuff that was never meant for you to carry.”

The Danger of Trying to Handle Troubles Alone

One of the biggest mistakes we make is trying to fix everything in our own strength. When trouble comes, our first instinct is often to take control—we start making plans, we look for solutions, we try to force things to happen the way we think they should. But when we do this, we often make things worse.
Look at Abraham and Sarah in Genesis 16. God had promised Abraham that he would have a son, that he would become the father of many nations. But years passed, and nothing happened. Sarah became impatient. She thought, “Maybe I need to take matters into my own hands.” So she came up with her own plan—she told Abraham to have a child with her servant, Hagar. And what happened? Instead of solving the problem, it created more pain, division, and strife.
How many times have we done the same thing? We pray for God to move, but when He doesn’t move fast enough, we take matters into our own hands. We try to manipulate situations. We try to force relationships to work. We make decisions out of fear instead of faith. And in the end, we find ourselves in an even bigger mess.
But here’s what we need to understand: God doesn’t need your help—He needs your trust! He doesn’t need us to figure it all out—He needs us to surrender and believe that He already has a plan. While you’re busy trying to figure it out, we serve a God who has already worked it out. Can I help and encourage real quick? Thank you so very much

God Has Power in the Middle of Your Storm

Watch this! Mark 4:35-41 that teaches us what it means to trust God in the middle of trouble. Jesus and His disciples were crossing the sea when suddenly, a violent storm arose. The wind was fierce, the waves were crashing into the boat, and the disciples began to panic. They thought they were going to die. But where was Jesus? He was asleep in the boat.
The disciples rushed to wake Him up, crying out, "Master, don’t you care that we’re perishing?" And what did Jesus do? He stood up, rebuked the wind and the waves, and said, "Peace, be still." And the bible says that instantly, there was a great calm. Those 3 powerful words made the winds cease, and the wave lay down.
Let me ask you: What storm are you facing today? What trouble is crashing against your life, making you feel like you’re going under? Maybe you’re crying out just like the disciples, "Lord, don’t you care? Don’t you see what I’m going through?"
But let me remind you of something: The same Jesus who calmed the storm is in your boat today! He hasn’t left you. He hasn’t forgotten you. He isn’t panicking. He is in control. And that’s an encouragement for somebody in the room today. Sometimes you gotta take a step back from your situation when all hell breaks loose, when your feet are in the fire, when you don't know what you're gonna do in the midst of your storm. Just take a step back and tell yourself “Peace be still.” This ain't the first time you've been broke, this ain't the first time folk have lied on you, this aint the first time folk have talked about you behind your back, this ain't the first time things didn't go your way. Look at somebody and tell them “I'm stepping out of my situation, it wont take control of me…PEACE BE STILL.”

The Power of Letting Go

So what does it mean to take your hands off your troubles and trust God? It means:
Stop trying to control what only God can fix. Some of us are so busy worrying, stressing, and overthinking that we’re not giving God the space to work. But God is saying, "Be still and know that I am God." Learn to wait on God’s timing. Sometimes God doesn’t move when we want Him to because He is preparing something greater. Just because you don’t see Him working doesn’t mean He isn’t working! When you cant trace His hand, trust His plan! Remember that God already has the solution. Before you even knew there was a problem, God had already prepared the answer. Before the Red Sea ever stood in front of the Israelites, God had already planned to split it open.
We see this truth so clearly in 2 Chronicles 20. King Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah were facing a massive enemy army. They were outnumbered, and defeat seemed certain. But instead of panicking, Jehoshaphat prayed. He admitted that he didn’t have the strength to win the battle. And do you know what God told him?
"You will not need to fight this battle. Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord." (2 Chronicles 20:17)
Instead of sending out warriors, Jehoshaphat sent out worshippers—and as they praised God, the enemy destroyed itself!
That is the power of taking your hands off your troubles and trusting God. When you let go, God steps in! When you stop trying to do it in your own strength, He fights for you! When you stop worrying and start worshipping, you will see His victory!

Your Breakthrough is in Your Surrender

Some of us have been holding on for too long. We’ve been trying to carry the weight of our problems, trying to figure everything out, trying to control what only God can handle. But today, God is saying:
"Give it to me. Take your hands off it. Trust me. Be still and know that I am God."
That financial struggle? Give it to Him. That sickness? Give it to Him. That broken heart? Give it to Him. That fear about the future? Give it to Him.
Because the moment you let go, that’s when God begins to move. The moment you surrender, that’s when breakthrough comes. The moment you take your hands off it, that’s when you will see the power of God like never before!
So I ask you today: What are you still holding onto? What is God asking you to release? Will you trust Him enough to take your hands off it? If you do, you will see that He is faithful. He is in control. And He will never fail you! Are you ready to surrender today? Let go and let God!

Point 2: Take Your Hands Off Your Enemies

One of the greatest struggles we face as believers is how to deal with our enemies—those who hurt us, betray us, oppose us, or try to destroy us. It is natural for us to want justice, to want to defend ourselves, to want to make things right in our own strength. But the Word of God teaches us something radically different:

Exodus 14:14 – "The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace."

This is not just a suggestion—it is a divine command! God is telling us: "Take your hands off it! You don’t have to fight this battle because I am fighting it for you!" But if we’re honest, that’s not always easy to do. We want to defend ourselves. We want to prove our point. We want to strike back when someone wrongs us. Yet, God calls us to trust Him and let Him handle our enemies His way.
So today, let’s go deep into this truth:
God knows your enemies better than you do.
God’s justice is greater than your retaliation.
The cross of Jesus proves that victory belongs to those who trust God.
Are you ready to let go and let God fight for you?

God Knows Your Enemies Better Than You Do

It’s easy to feel like no one understands what you’re going through—like no one sees the pain you’ve endured, the betrayal you’ve faced, or the attacks that have come against you. But let me assure you: God sees EVERYTHING.
Look at what God says in Deuteronomy 32:35: "Vengeance is mine, and recompense, for the time when their foot shall slip; for the day of their calamity is at hand, and their doom comes swiftly."
God is not blind to the injustices you have suffered. He is not deaf to the lies that have been spoken against you. He is not indifferent to the way people have mistreated you. In fact, He keeps a record of every tear you’ve cried (Psalm 56:8). And because He sees all, He will deal with your enemies far better than you ever could.
Think about Joseph in the book of Genesis. His own brothers betrayed him—they threw him into a pit, sold him into slavery, and lied to their father about what happened. If anyone had a reason to hold onto bitterness and fight for revenge, it was Joseph! But Joseph didn’t take matters into his own hands. He trusted God, and what happened?
Years later, when Joseph became the second most powerful man in Egypt, his brothers stood before him, terrified that he would take revenge. But Joseph looked at them and said: "You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good." (Genesis 50:20)
Hallelujah! What the enemy meant for evil, God turned into a blessing! And if you will take your hands off your enemies and trust God, He will do the same for you.
God’s Justice Is Greater Than Your Retaliation
One of the hardest things for us to do is to walk away from a fight we feel we deserve to win. Everything in us wants to defend ourselves. Everything in us wants to prove our point. But God’s way is different.
Look at David and King Saul. Saul was jealous of David. He hated him. He chased him down, tried to kill him multiple times, and spread lies about him. But even though David had many chances to kill Saul and take the throne, he refused.
In 1 Samuel 24, David had the perfect opportunity—Saul was alone in a cave, unaware that David was right behind him. David’s men whispered, "This is your chance! Kill him and take what is yours!" But David replied:
"I will not stretch out my hand against my lord, for he is the Lord’s anointed." (1 Samuel 24:10)
David understood something most of us struggle with—he knew that if God had allowed this battle, then it was God’s responsibility to win it. And sure enough, Saul’s own actions led to his downfall. David didn’t have to fight—God fought for him!
How many of us are trying to win battles that belong to God? How many of us are wasting our energy fighting people, trying to prove something, trying to get even—when God is telling us to stand still and let Him work?
Listen to Romans 12:19: "Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, 'Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.'”
That’s a promise! God will handle your enemies. He will bring justice in His perfect time. You don’t have to lift a finger—just trust Him!
The Cross Proves That Victory Belongs to Those Who Trust God
If anyone had the right to fight back, it was Jesus.
He was falsely accused.
He was beaten and mocked
He was nailed to a cross for sins He didn’t commit.
But did He fight back? No. Did He call down angels to destroy His enemies? No. Instead, He surrendered and prayed, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” (Luke 23:34)
And because Jesus took His hands off the battle and trusted the Father, the greatest victory in history was won! The cross looked like defeat, but three days later, Jesus walked out of the grave with all power in His hands!
And that is what happens when we let go and trust God—He takes what looks like defeat and turns it into victory.
When you stop fighting, God starts working.
When you let go, He steps in.
When you trust Him, He wins the battle for you!

Get Your Hands Off the Battle and Watch God Work

I don’t know who I’m talking to today, but somebody has been fighting a battle that isn’t yours to fight. Somebody has been carrying a grudge, holding onto anger, trying to get even—but God is saying, "Take your hands off it! This battle is mine, and I will handle it!"
That coworker who keeps attacking you? God sees it.
That family member who betrayed you? God knows.
That person who lied on you, stole from you, hurt you? God is aware.
And He is saying today: "Be still and know that I am God."
Some of us need to release the pain, the anger, the need for revenge—and just trust that God is working behind the scenes. When you do, you will see that:
He can fight your enemies better than you can.
He can bring justice in a way you never could.
He can turn your pain into a testimony.
So I ask you today: What battle do you need to surrender? What situation do you need to take your hands off of and put into God’s hands?
If you do, I promise you—God will fight for you, and victory will be yours!
Let go and let God!

Point 3 Take Your Hands Off Your Struggles

Many of us go through life carrying burdens that God never intended for us to carry. We struggle with fear, doubt, worry, guilt, pain, and frustration, trying to fix things on our own. We try to solve problems that only God can handle. But when God says in Psalm 46:10, “Be still and know that I am God,” He is telling us to release control and trust Him completely.
There is no greater proof of this truth than the cross of Jesus Christ. If there was ever a moment in history that looked like complete defeat, it was when Jesus hung on that cross. His disciples were confused, His followers were heartbroken, and His enemies were celebrating. But what they didn’t know was that God was working behind the scenes!
The cross was not the end—it was the beginning.
The grave was not the final destination—it was a temporary stop.
What looked like the worst day in history became the greatest victory for all eternity!
And that same victory is available to you today—but only if you take your hands off your struggles and trust that God has already won!
Let’s go deep into this truth:
Jesus Showed Us the Power of Surrender
The Resurrection Proves That God Always Finishes What He Starts
When You Let Go, You Step Into the Victory That’s Already Yours
1. Jesus Showed Us the Power of Surrender
When Jesus came to earth, He did not come to fight battles in human strength. He did not come to overthrow the Roman government or to lead a rebellion. Instead, He came to surrender—to the will of the Father, to the plan of salvation, and ultimately, to the cross.
In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus was faced with a choice. The weight of the crucifixion was heavy on Him. He knew what was coming—the betrayal, the torture, the humiliation, the nails, and the agony of bearing the sins of the world. And in that moment, He prayed:
"Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will." (Matthew 26:39)
This is the key to victory—SURRENDER. Jesus could have fought. He could have called down legions of angels to destroy His enemies. But He took His hands off the situation and trusted the Father completely.
And because He surrendered, He won the greatest victory in history!
Some of us today are fighting battles that require surrender instead of struggle.
We try to fix people that only God can change.
We try to force doors open that only God can unlock.
We try to control outcomes that only God can determine.
But when we let go, we make room for God to move! Just like Jesus in the garden, we must be willing to say, "Not my will, but Yours be done."
That’s when victory comes!

The Resurrection Proves That God Always Finishes What He Starts

The enemy thought the cross was the end. The disciples thought all hope was lost. But God had already written the final chapter! Three days later, the stone was rolled away, and Jesus stepped out of the grave with all power in His hands!
What does that mean for us today?
It means that God always finishes what He starts.
It means that even when things look dead, God can bring them back to life.
It means that no struggle, no suffering, and no setback can stop the plan of God.
Philippians 1:6 says: "He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ."
If God has started something in your life, He will finish it! But you have to trust Him. You have to take your hands off the situation and believe that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is working in you!
Some of us today are holding onto dead situations, dead relationships, and dead dreams—things that we think are over. But just like Jesus was in the tomb for three days, sometimes God allows a delay to set the stage for resurrection!
Maybe your struggle is not a sign of defeat—it’s just part of the process.
Maybe your season of waiting is not punishment—it’s preparation.
Maybe the enemy thinks he has won, but Sunday morning is coming!
Hallelujah! If God could raise Jesus from the dead, He can handle whatever you’re facing!
When You Let Go, You Step Into the Victory That’s Already Yours
Because of the cross, you are already victorious. The moment you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you stepped into the finished work of Christ.
Colossians 2:15 says: "Having disarmed the powers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross."
Do you see that? The enemy has already been defeated! The only way the devil can win is if he convinces you to keep fighting battles that Jesus already won.
You don’t have to fight for your salvation—it’s already finished.
You don’t have to fight for your purpose—it’s already written.
You don’t have to fight for your breakthrough—it’s already in motion.
What you need to do is let go.
Take your hands off the fear.
Take your hands off the anxiety.
Take your hands off the situation and declare that God is in control!
And when you do, you will begin to walk in peace, power, and supernatural victory.

It’s Time to Trust the Finished Work of Jesus

Somebody today has been struggling, striving, and fighting battles that were never meant for you to fight. You’ve been trying to fix things, control things, and force things to happen. But today, God is saying to you:
"Take your hands off it! Be still and know that I am God!"
If Jesus was willing to trust the Father all the way to the cross, shouldn’t we trust Him with our struggles? If Jesus was able to let go and surrender, shouldn’t we do the same?
The cross proves that surrender leads to victory. The resurrection proves that God always wins. And because of Jesus, we don’t have to fight for victory—we fight from victory!
So I ask you today:
What struggle do you need to surrender?
What battle do you need to stop fighting?
Will you trust that God has already won?
If you will take your hands off the struggle and put it in God’s hands, I promise you—He will do more than you could ever imagine!
The battle is already won. The victory is already yours. Now let go and walk in it!
Somebody listening today has been fighting, stressing, worrying, and trying to fix things that were never meant for you to fix. You’ve been losing sleep, feeling overwhelmed, and carrying a weight that is crushing your spirit. But today, God is telling you loud and clear: "TAKE YOUR HANDS OFF IT!"
Why? Because the battle is already won! Because the victory has already been secured! Because Jesus already handled it on the cross!
Oh, I wish somebody would hear me right now! Your struggle, your pain, your fear, your frustration—ALL of it was nailed to the cross over 2,000 years ago!
When they whipped Jesus, He carried your sickness (Isaiah 53:5).
When they mocked Him, He took your shame (Hebrews 12:2).
When He was nailed to that tree, He bore your burdens (1 Peter 2:24).
And when He cried out, “It is finished” (John 19:30), He was declaring that EVERY battle, EVERY struggle, EVERY hardship has already been dealt with in the power of His blood!
So why are you still fighting when the victory has already been secured?

The Cross Says It’s Settled!

You see, the enemy wants you to keep your hands on the situation. He wants you to keep wrestling with it, keep worrying about it, keep trying to manipulate it, because as long as you’re fighting in your own strength, you’ll never experience the fullness of God’s power!
But when you step back… when you let go… when you lift your hands instead of using your hands… THAT’S when God moves in a way that will leave you speechless!
Can I remind you of something?
The enemy thought he won on Friday.
When they arrested Jesus, the devil thought he had Him.
When they nailed Him to the cross, the enemy started celebrating.
When Jesus breathed His last breath, Satan thought it was over.
But what the enemy forgot was that SUNDAY MORNING WAS COMING!
Oh, I feel a shout rising right here! Because early Sunday morning, before the sun even had a chance to rise, Jesus got up with ALL power in His hands!
Power over death!
Power over sin!
Power over sickness!
Power over your enemies!
Power over your struggles!
Power over EVERYTHING you’ve been fighting!
And because He got up, YOU can get up! Because He won, YOU win! Because He took His hands off the battle and put it in the Father’s hands, YOU can do the same!
It’s Time to Let Go and Walk in Victory!
I need you to hear me today:
If Jesus trusted the Father’s plan in the darkest moment of His life, you can trust Him too.
If Jesus let go of control and surrendered, you can do the same.
If Jesus was able to rest in the grave while God worked behind the scenes, you can rest in knowing that God is working on your behalf!
So I ask you one more time: What are you still holding onto?
That pain? Let it go!
That worry? Let it go!
That fear? Let it go!
That battle? TAKE YOUR HANDS OFF IT AND PUT IT IN GOD’S HANDS!
Because here’s the truth: Your hands were never strong enough to fix it in the first place! But His hands? His hands have already conquered it!

Lift Your Hands and Declare It!

I dare somebody right now to lift your hands—yes, right where you are—as a sign that you’re taking your hands off the battle and putting it in God’s hands!
Somebody say: I’m not fighting this anymore—IT’S IN GOD’S HANDS! I’m not stressing about this anymore—IT’S IN GOD’S HANDS! I’m not carrying this weight anymore—IT’S IN GOD’S HANDS! I’m not losing sleep over this anymore—IT’S IN GOD’S HANDS!
And if you believe that, open your mouth and give God a shout of victory! Because the cross is proof… IT’S ALREADY HANDLED!
Hallelujah! Glory to God! It’s done!
