Wednesday Night - Consent Thou Not

And you may think what I've heard that verse many times or I've heard this a topic many times, but never underestimate the got to teach you something new from his work, and his words of life, and it gives us. Truth is every time we read, it will look for it sir. Proverbs Chapter ones where we going. I'm going to be just one verse to start with this evening. before we dig into our opening text this evening, we need to take a moment to understand a simple word that I think truly is a big part of what Proverbs is we talked about last week, the, the powerful principles of proverbs and we need to understand what is a principle? What is a principal at Amanda director at your school? They always taught us in school. A principal principal at school and Zan a l, right? If you heard this, you're not in your head up and down cuz the principal is your pal. P a l. He's your pal. Those your that are frowning obviously don't get along with your principal. So anyhow principal ple though it's far is right now a principal is a foundational truth on which we build our decisions in our actions upon We all need to have principles in our life. Those who do not have principles. They truly find the ground under a bit shaking. They are the Bible talks about being tossed to and fro with every wind of Doctrine. And I think that when we lack principles that truly well describes kind of what we become the Bible calls, it being, and being a double-minded, man, in the Book of James, he's unstable in all his ways. We need those principles. Cuz those principles are are, what kind of ground us down to? What is true? What is, right? We do things because that is the principle that we have. It's the principle that's been said. We came to a point in time in my life. When we made a decision that whatever it is, that is going to be a principal Mr. Life. I hope the same thing. You got principles things that are predetermined. They are foundational. Truth that you built your life, a bomb. I'll give you an example of a principle that But we have my wife and I we have a principal if our family, we don't drink alcohol, that's a principal and sometimes and I'll talk more about this later. When we get back to Proverbs Chapter 1 at sometimes, those principles will be challenged. My wife had met someone else. So one in and and she came back and said, I want you to come back in and can we visit this guy? And I'm not sure, let's go visit him. Something else. Come on in and sit out a beer. I have never been offered a beer. Since I was like you not let me think about that. No right not at all like no thank you. So can we get you a root beer at this point? It's like knows anything.

Why is it so easy and answers as a principal it's already set its predetermined when I have to make the decision. When is being offered brother. Craig had I don't know what it is about Ronnie. Really Craig has that work a few months ago. Back when we actually could work outside better, he's working outside and somebody came by and offered him a beer. He just looks like a guy that would drink him, I guess, I don't know. You know, he didn't have to stand out there and say And about that if he had I would have problems but where do we get our principles? Well, we have one main source, our principles and I still would have done. What is a mocker strong? Drink is Raging and their services. They thereby is not wise and just us a principal amount. We take out that some Proverbs chapter 21. Take that say okay, that's what God's word says. Now this principle of my life is we're not going to drink alcohol.

Why? Cuz it's a principle where that Prince Will Come From God's word, take arrivals and look with me if you want. Matthew chapter 7 verse number 24, you find that price is telling a story here. And he says, in verse 24,

Robert 7:24 he says therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine and doeth them. I will liken him unto a wise man which built his house upon a rock and the rain descended. And the floods came and the winds blew and beat upon that house. And it felt up where it was founded upon a rock. Now. Right there a moment we see is founded upon the rock. What was that rock? He said those who heard his words that he said and did. What did that? What was the rock? The word of God? What was it was the foundation on which the might wise man, built his house? Thinking about the significance of this for just a moment. And why the Lord use the house? This is where the man live. It wasn't a place he visited. It wasn't that he just came and said, all that principle when it was convenient. Not at all. He said this is the rock, this is the place where I'm going to build my house. It's going to be a permanent thing. It's going to be a standing thing that's going to be with me and my family live on the Rock. What did Jesus say this was liking to those? That heard what he said her to sayings? And did that what you talked about the word of God? Jesus Christ. Spelled both us and Sunday and Sunday, school. Jesus Christ was God, we believe in the deity of Christ. So what Jesus said, what is that the word of now? We now have a wise man who built his house on the rock, but then you have those who have no principles, they are those who say he's not relative. Why? Because we live on a rock, cuz we have a foundation that Foundation is Jesus Christ. That Foundation is the word of God. And they make their decisions based on how they feel today, rather than a principal that's fixed. Jesus addresses. This is why they call them fools here and look to see if you would at Matthew chapter 7 and less this time. Go to verse number 26,

And every one that heareth these sayings of mine and doeth them not shall be likened unto a foolish man which built his house upon the sand and the rain descended and the floods came and the winds blew and beat upon the house. And it fell and great was the fall of it. Saying the second, the picture of someone who did not take the word of gum and use it to build principles in his life and said he built his home on Sam's. What's the problem saying? They shipped around, they move around when times. It's not stable, you can't build a foundation on stamps and you go round the special, the edges of like them to some of the new developments you see, they're laying foundations, I have yet to see anyone out there building sandcastles in the foundation. I've never seen anybody take bags of sand and so you know this will work just for the foundation which is built on top of that snow. But it was pouring out their tongues great. They're putting rock out there, is what they're doing, they're putting in the cylinder block, sir, they're putting in the different things. That it's something firm. It's something solid. I'm going to tell you this tonight, if we're going to live for the Lord, the way he wants us to live, we need to have something solid we live on, we need to have solid principles in our life and as we go through the Book of Proverbs and I don't know for how long that will be in here but you a challenge last week. I think it's a good thing to write a proper today. I think it's a good thing to do. The Book of Proverbs outlines so many principles for our life, whether it be how to be a diligent man and not how to be slothful or to be a sluggard, it teaches us how to be a wise man and not a fool. It teaches our young ladies, how to bathe virtuous women and not strange women. How about to be a foolish woman and how to be a wise woman? There's so many principles that we can go to the Book of Proverbs and find that Dave principles are powerful and simple principles that were given, especially the young people to say, hey, take these principles and build your house on there. The storms will come. Challenges will come. You will have your faith tested as they say. Your patience will be try. Do where you have either? You'll stand on the rock or your everything you stand for will crumble. Because you really stand for nothing. Cuz we have no principal is just how I felt today. By the way, you see this today, and in a lot of the social movements, Used to be, you know, the date for the sodomites, they use all those. Initials you notice that they keep growing. Used to just be you know, l g b, t, I don't know what it used to be. I know q and I finally got tired of adding letters that they let us sign changes so much, we can't keep up with that. Somebody's got a new label and what happened does, what, what I feel today yesterday at the transgender today, I feel something else tomorrow. I feel that today is one of those shifts with how they feel. They don't have something solid, they can't go back to the word of God.

I heard this week about a Bible that just recently came out called the upside down kingdom Bible. That sounds like a book you'd want to read and I said all through the whole place the Fate. So the whole thing's being stopped up it's about about making everyone feel except him. No matter and taking its about taking creation and merging with Evolution and just welcoming all of it. But that's not what God's word supposed to be. No, that is at the Bible to try to appeal to people who want no Rock to build on it. That's a quote on quote, Bible to try to appeal to people who want to build their house on the sand. The thing is, when the storms come they're going to find that house is not saying and great will be the fall of it. Let's go back. Now then the Proverbs chapter 1

And look with me at verse number 10.

We talked about last week, how the Book of Proverbs tells us

who it is written from, who wrote it, who has written to talks about the things we need to add to our life, all through those first several versus, I'm not going to try to replace the whole thing or less a neural message we had last Wednesday. This is for all of us and the reason I want to point it out is we need to recognize the wall Mount Carmel. This is a Weiser a father, some of those wiser. Speaking of someone who was simple, not as wise, didn't know. Asus. Hold on a second. My son. What he saying he is. I want to remind you who you are. In this case, it could go multiple directions to that reminds you you're a child of the king. To remind you that I have wisdom. I'm trying to give you. If you remember Proverbs that ate one wants his chapter to, he says, there may be a Shepherd. So I can let me know what he says. I give you the doctrine who is children. I have something to tell you how often as we go through the Book of Proverbs and we find those two words. My son was doing, I've got something that you need and right now, but first thing we need to do, if we're going to do what God would have us to do, is we need to recognize that we have an aide. We need to recognize that there is something in this verse that, we need this evening, my son. Why? Because we are weak and vulnerable. There's a reason why we were given a command from God to put on the armor of God. We can't stand with against the devil on their own. Why we were given the sword of the spirit. That's why we were given the word of God, the light our path, and we were given the word of God to cleanse. Our way as it says, in the scripture, is given the word of God at the be there to be that as a mentor. Nobody else that's sort of the spirit. We need help. And we can go to the word of God and it will give us up. We need, but we have to have the humility to recognize. We need it. We have to have the ability to put ourselves in the chair of my son. And the problem is when they come, if you haven't set your principles, you're going to think about doing it. To thinking agreements with, you are ready to consent. You're somebody who can be easily persuade someone who can be easily moved, why? Because your mind is open, by the way, there's no accident that we have a society that advertises open-mindedness Debbie open-minded and they criticize being close-minded. So while he's just so close-minded, what I tell you, it's not bad thing to be closed, minded if you're close minded on the word of God. It's okay to wrap around the word of God and say, this is what it says. I used the example about a principal about not drinking alcohol after the Bible tells about that, people, they say, wow. But the Bible says not to get drunk So if you can drink as long as you don't get drunk, it doesn't mean not drunk with wine. Wherein is that says about to be filled with the spirit I would Down there. If you're filled with the spirit, you wouldn't drink, but you should not get drunk. And now all the sudden you have pastors and you have churches that Festival. It's okay. It's okay to drink a little as long as you don't get drunk, but Bible still says, wine is a mocker strong. Drink is Raging who's her sit there by it, even still says, you're not supposed to look up. How you going to drink and not look at it. I'll try to be more like though.

But they, how did they, how did, how did they get Christians to get to that point? We'll be open-minded about this. Let's reason this out. I'll tell you this. I had a doctor tell me many years ago, you start getting drunk with the first drink.

Therefore, if we're not going to be drunk with wine, we shouldn't take the first drink.

Now, I'm going to tell you this this evening. And everything is to come down to this one very singular points. We need to set principles not live at those principles are founded on the word of God. We need to close our mind down on those principles. This is what God said. We don't need to debate. What Doug said, we don't need to to beat at trying to weigh in the balance. Whether it's logical to do what God said, let me give you this evening, and we're not going to look up. Let me give you some examples of some people who they, they knew what God wanted, but they did not close their mind to it. Can I tell you about 12 Spies, who went into the land of Canaan? They spell spies went with a purpose from Moses, not to decide whether or not the children of Israel to go into the promised land, but the decide how they would go in and what the that they weren't actually supposed to make it any decisions. They were supposed to be scouting and bringing back information. But they came back and they said, oh, it's a land that flows with milk and flows with milk and honey. Yes, but Giants. Call back to sleep. We were like grasshoppers in their sight. Oh, well, never take this and all the sudden you had a group of people that they stood there at the end of God upon them and they have God's God's challenges to go forward and that Promise Land, but I stepped back into the cold

Bacon scented. When Sinners enticed. They left their mind, open to God's Will. By the way, if you follow the children of Israel, all the way from Egypt, their mind was open all the way. Even to the point Bible says, when they built that golden calf, that was his dad already turned back in their heart to Egypt.

They were leaving. God's will open in their mind what they were supposed to do. Got it already made it clear. This is what you're going to do, I don't know. No, no no, no way from that. And by the way, those who did that, they didn't ever see that Promised Land They never answered that Promised Land. He closed the doors.

This time I didn't have God's hand with them. Read the Bible. Bible story find they were well without it, they did not win. Moses was like we're not. I'm not going and they are for the coven is not going with you by happening. What was the problem? They had not a principle in their mind that they see. The second time they came, they were little more principal. We're going in Joseph Joshua smart, he didn't send twelve men. And you said to, And just so you all know. I just want you to go to this one city and I just not down you, we're not going to go check out. So if we're going in we're going in. And they came and they the best lesson when they came back. Second time, they have some principles that are going to come in. I was in the front, those men step down and they saw that Jordan River Road back and they went on their way. Then they suck. I got the other side. May set in the middle of that River. A pillar as polished stones to be a remembrance that God brought us Prince. The second time, you had a group of people that they literally were brought up for the purpose of going into the promised land. Based off their forefathers, not be able to answer their fathers, not be able to pass over and they live their life for the next 20 years.

For one thing, we're only one around in circles right now because somebody else wouldn't go in when they were supposed to go in. And we're not going to make that mistake. I came down to the Jordan River. They had a principal set but it's not if we go and that's when we go in, we don't have 40 more years to wait. We're going as long as God deals with us. This is the difference between having a principal set and say this is what we're going to do or shifting with how we feel like we should go to the promised land. They no longer feel like taking up the arm arm and going to battle, but they were buying it so they heard there were giants in the land that I heard all there. Like we were like grasshoppers in their sight.

We need to have principles on which we set our self to go forward. What are your principles? Do you have things that you set in your life? That's you say there are lines. We don't cross. No matter what the Temptation, no matter what the storm that comes, if centers in Tights thing, consent shall not. We're not even going to think about it. We're not even going to entertain the thought we're not going to answer into, we're not giving up any grounds to agreement to going with, Sinners and Tyson us to go. And by the way, they don't want to take it. A very good place looking verse 11.

If they say come with us, let us wait for blood last night, probably for the innocent without cause that is swollen up alive has the grave. And a whole as those that go down into the pit, we shall find all precious substance. We shall fill our houses with spoil.

And so it gives these principles, and this is why when you go through, Proverbs, you start grabbing here and say there's a principal, and here's a principal. And here's the prince of, I saw him a few chapters. There's another verse that goes with this principle that I saw back here and put those together. And now, I'm building something I can build my house on. I'm building something I can build a home on. I'm building something. I can raise a family on a building something that I can build a future on by cuz it's solid. It's on the word of God. It's still the test of time there. Many centuries through many thousands of years, it stood the test of time and it will continue to stand the mess. I'm a fact. I was telling us that his word will not pass away. And so we have something to build on but then here's why I think we have issues and I'm doing fine for time. I got a few minutes left to become down to verse for 15. We watch their YouTube channels, we watch them on TV. We listen to their music, we are friends with them at work or school. The very ones, who what entitles us to do things? We should not do. We keep company with impact? The way you speak your company, with just in person. Now I can be digitally through text, through email, through video through Instagram, Snapchat, you fill in the blank. Walk not thou in the way with them. Bible says, it's Amos 3:3 how can two walk together except they be what a green. Interesting the word consent. When he says consent down. Means to agree in mind. If I'm walking in the way with them, I'm already joining them in my mind, I'm already coming together to where we're thinking about the same thing, we're thinking about it the same way. And by the way, every time you listen to someone every time you watch someone every time you put something in your mind, you are allowing them to affect the way you think. And every time you keep feeling your mind and your heart with that, it's going to be harder to consent down. Not it's going to be harder to step back and say, hold on. I can't even think about doing that cuz that's against my principles.

The Devil's Slide. And he knows that if he can attack your principals, see we read verse 10 and we have this Grand gesture of the devil's, going to come up to me and like, just like you did with Jesus in the house by myself over. And we're going to say, no, I can say

But I thought that was funny.

No I can set up but that's not generally how it comes. Comes little by little. I'll Attack your principal right here and here and here I'll Attack the logic of your principal and Allah Allah Tak. What I perceive to be holes in your principal and I'll Attack the thinking of your purse. I'll try to get you to think about what you really believe and see how strongly you really believe it. That's what the snake did. That's what the devil did in Genesis. Half. Set. You sure about that. Is that really your principal not to eat of the tree in the midst of the garden? Are you sure?

Not really not die. Not a fact, you'll become like God. a little little, little, little little Until she moved the principal and took of the fruit.

By the way, no one can make you abandon your principles, you choose, you choose to cross the line, you choose to move the foundation. That's why the battle to preserve what we stand for starts with. I'm not going to think about that. I'm not saying don't be a learner. Bible says a wise man will hear and will increase learning. But you need to learn from people who have learning so that you can increase learning. A wise man did not become wise by listening to fools. Who said their heart? There was no God. It said they listen to Wiseman. Wise counselors say about counselors in Proverbs by wise counsel, make that war in the multitude of counselors, there is safety. By definition the counselor is someone who knows more about something than you do there wiser than you are. So I was going to kind of hard for them to be your counselor not saying their haughty or arrogant or there's some really brainy person But they didn't need to be a little farther down the road. Play Redbone figured out, it's kind of hard for someone at the same level as you to be your counselor.

I know at the end here, we kind of really spread it out a bit more. By 1, bring it back to the house. You have to decide. I need principal to my life. Who am I to get those principles from the word of God? The raid, the word of God last week at challenged our church. I said, listen, if you read a proper but they are not be sorry for it. I'm not saying only read a proper but dang, I think it's good to read more than that. If you have a Bible reading schedule, follow you by bring the schedule. It's a good goal to try to read the Bible through in a year at least. If not less, you can do it less than a year. There's no rule that says you have to wait a whole year to reach about through. But take a proverb and add it to it. Like those are so many basic life principles that I think sometimes we miss. We need to take and grab and let me build a little bit. Let me build it for making a foundation. We're listening to Christ sayings, and we're going to build on that rock. Our foundations. At those principles, be the studs that you can hang your wall on in your house. That is settled on the word of God. But the only person, as I said, a moment ago, the only one who can move those principles is you. I tell you this only person that can build those principles is you I have nine children. I wish I could go to my children's life and say you will have this principle and you will have this principle I can lead them to the prince when they think of me. When my son Nathan coming, I can teach him. My will says I'm supposed to teach him train up a child in the way he should go, right? I was going to try to teach him. I guess I'm going to teach you a few the book I can teach him. See, this is God's word and this is what God's word says. And as we walk through life, this is what we need. But you know what, I can't do. I can't for Savannah masego. I know at some point you children listen to me. At some point, you have to reach out. And take that word. And learn those principles. Let your mom and dad have worked hard to teach you and say, you know what, that's how I'm going to go ahead and live my life.

I can't make that boy live for the Lord and I can't make him live with principles that are based on God's word. But I can teach him God's word and I can show him what God's word says and I can teach him at those principles are but you all listen to me at some point, you got to pick up that word for yourself. And you've got to say I'm going to lay off by this.

And then if Center sometimes they consent Val. The devil is after our children. You see at the library books, you see in the cartoons, you see, in the education system, the devil's after our children. That is so important that we as parents teach them the word of God. It's not just enough to throw it at them expected to stick.

The best way that I'm going to help these young men. That principals in their life. Especially when they're very young like this. I need that principles in my life. I cannot listen to this parents, especially I cannot take the word of God and say sad. I do want him to take an AutoZone but I can't say, you know, do what I say, not what I do, go live for the Lord, will I do what I want to do. Doesn't work. He's going to say, Dad, what's wrong with you? Let Thine Eyes. Observe my waist. Train up a child in the way he should go. When I was a teenager, we had a, we had a German Shepherd, dog. 120 lb.
