Jehovah-Rapha: The Lord Who Heals You

Primary Scripture Reading:
Isaiah 53:5 KJV 1900
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: The chastisement of our peace was upon him; And with his stripes we are healed.

Introduction: The God Who Heals

Healing is a covenant promise from God. Throughout scripture, God reveals Himself as Jehovah-Rapha, “the Lord who heals” (Exodus 15:26). Healing is not just for the past but is available today.
Jesus’ sacrifice brought both salvation and healing. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead works in us today (Romans 8:11). How do we receive healing and walk in it?

I. Believe That Healing Is God’s Will

1. God’s Will Is Healing
Psalm 103:2-3
Psalm 103:2–3 KJV 1900
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all his benefits: 3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; Who healeth all thy diseases;
• Healing is part of God’s covenant blessings.
2. Jesus Demonstrated God’s Will
Matthew 8:2-3
Matthew 8:2–3 KJV 1900
2 And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. 3 And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
• Jesus never turned anyone away from healing.
3. Healing Was Included in the Atonement
Isaiah 53:5 – “With his stripes we are healed.”
Matthew 8:16-17 confirms Jesus fulfilled this prophecy by healing the sick.
Faith Application: Since healing is God’s will, we receive it as we receive salvation—by faith (Ephesians 2:8).

II. Remove Barriers to Healing

1. Unbelief and Doubt
Mark 6:5-6 Jesus could not do mighty works in His own home town because of unbelief.
Mark 6:5–6 KJV 1900
5 And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. 6 And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.
• Faith comes by hearing the Word (Romans 10:17).
2. Unconfessed Sin or Unforgiveness
James 5:16 – “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.”
• Sin and unforgiveness block God’s power.
3. Negative Confession
Proverbs 18:21 – “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.”
• Speak what God says about healing.
Faith Application: Ask God to reveal and remove anything hindering healing.

III. Receive Healing by Faith

1. Ask and Believe
Mark 11:24 – “What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”
• Healing begins when you believe, not when you see results.
2. Use the Authority of Jesus’ Name
Mark 16:17-18
Mark 16:17–18 KJV 1900
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
• Jesus has given us authority to declare healing.
3. Act in Faith
James 2:17 – “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.”
• Step out in faith and move in healing.
Faith Application: Pray for healing, believe, and act on your faith.

IV. Walk in Divine Health

1. Stay in the Word
Proverbs 4:20-22 – “My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings… For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.”
• God’s Word sustains our health.
2. Live a Holy Life
Exodus 15:26 – “If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God… I will put none of these diseases upon thee.”
• Holiness protects us from sickness.
3. Maintain a Lifestyle of Prayer and Worship
Philippians 4:6-7 – “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”
• Worship and trust in God sustain healing.
4. Resist the Enemy
James 4:7 – “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
• Sickness is from the enemy; we have authority to resist it.
Faith Application: Speak God’s Word daily and walk in obedience.

Conclusion: Your Healing Is Now!

Healing is available today. The power of God has not changed. If you need healing, come in faith, remove barriers, receive, and walk in it daily.
Quote:
John G. Lake – “The secret of Christianity is in being. It is in the possession of the nature of Jesus Christ by the Holy Ghost, which is imparted to us in the new birth and made manifest through healing and miracles.”
