I have been studying the book of Ephesians and there is one particular verse that I can not get past, in Ephesians 1:11 “In him we have also received an inheritance, because we were predestined according to the plan of the one who works out everything in agreement with the purpose of his will,”
In him we have also received an inheritance - who here has recieved and inheritance? Unlucky … My view of an inheritance was a little distorted when I was younger. You see I grew up in a cult like religion, and in my experience, I was taught that we get to all live together on a paradise earth and only a select few would go to heaven, and if you questioned this belief or acted outside of their doctrine, you were cast out to make you feel alone and miss everyone you know so you would want to come back. This inheritance was only received through service and obedience to a doctrine. See the funny thing with an inheritance is that you do not have to do anything to receive it. My wife and I have a will set up so that when I tragically pass, it states that grieve for seven years after, make a wax replica and have me standing in the kitchen. But really it states that Cassie and the kids will receive a lump sum to make sure they are set up for the for-seable future, my family did not have to work for it, they did not have to prove anything. THEY JUST RECEIVED and INHERITED the will.
You see Christ has given each and everyone one of us an inheritance, that we do not have to work for, we do not have to prove we are worthy because we never will be, we dont have to complete a degree or have a set of specific credentials, we just have to reconise Jesus as our Lord and Saviour and follow him and we will receive the inhertitance that was predestined!
Because we were PREDESTINED according to the plan - This word predestined
