John 8: 31-59. The truth.
Truth and lies – Child or slave – Free or slave – Who’s offspring – God or the devil?
Jesus speaking the truth will get more and more unpopular and in the end of today’s text, the people are so mad that they will try to stone him.  Because Jesus say he is God. (I am that I am).
31-32) Jesus speaking to the people that last time heard him and believed, that if they abide in his word, they would truly be his disciples, and know the truth, (not one of many the only truth) and that will set them free. Truths the truth sets people free. (Not saying to people make up your own truth, - that is also none sense, and mental delusion and as we read later a work of the devil the father of lies). And the people are also confused, they don’t see them self as slaves, - they are as people are, slaves of sin, and that they forget they Adam and the fall, - slaves of sin and their own will, and the worlds praise, and making up God in their own image, or today making up one’s own truth or world. That pleases one self, - and leads to destruction, as sin doses and worship of idols and people.
33) They do object, offspring of Abrham, and have never been enslaved, - and you say we should be free. I don’t know if Jesus at this point is making a face or shaking his head, because after Abrham the people of God was slaves for 400 years in Egypt, many times ruled by others in the promise land, paying, money to other kings. – Jesus does not go that way but instead expands as I just talked about that he is taking about the slavery to sin.  34) Amen, Amen, truly truly, - Everyone that who practices sin is a slave to sin. In other words, you are slaves, - and you don’t even know it. (That might be the same for people to day, seeking not finding, the ground is hard, fulfillment not found). A blind slave bound by sin and the devil and lies.
35) Jesus pointing to the difference in being a slave or a son… / Jesus explain the difference between the son and a slave and what standing they have with the son, 36) - and that the son is able to set free, to be free indeed.  (slaves should go out after 7 years).
37) Jesus they are offspring of Abraham, -but something is not right because they seek to kill Jesus because they don’t find place for his words in them.  38) Jesus ramping up the conflict/rhetoric now with stating that he does what he has seen the Farther do. And they do what their father has said to them.
39) They get mad and they clam that Abraham is our father. And Jesus said no you are not, your actions would be different if you were Abraham’s children, - and because 40) you seek to kill me – a man that have told you the truth -that comes form God. That is not how Abraham acted.
41) No, you are doing the works of your father, the works he did: Lie, kill, slander, accuse, in slave, - in an attempt do strike back at Jesus they clam to be children of God. First Abraham, then Jesus exposed them their actions is not like Abrahams, then they say we have one Father = God. Bold statement, and Jesus will now, explain who their father is. Not God.
42-43) If God was your father, you would love me, for I came from God, I am here. I came because God send me. I have said this many times but you do not understand – because you can’t bear to hear my word.
44) And your father is the devil, and you are doing his work what your father desires. Murderer from the beginning, (it not the truth) there is no truth in him (so he will keep people in slavery / prison). Father of lies, speaks lies as “natural” that is part of his character.
45) Opposite is Jesus that speaks the truth, that is the truth, and is able to set free from sin. But because Jesus does tell the truth, they don’t believe Him. (They are used to lies and darkness and can’t see or understand the truth). (There is no room for Gods words – what about you? Do you have room for Gods words?)
46) A great statement form Jesus, Okay, you don’t believe me, - but what sin have you seen me do? A statement of perfection, - then if you can’t point to any sin or lie, and I tell the truth then why don’t you believe me?
47) no response so Jesus will explain it, that they are not of God, because they can’t hear the words of God that Jesus is speaking to them. That is the reason, they are not from God. (What about you? – Who’ is your father? The devil or God, and who’s actions are you living out?)
48) Not giving up, they use their fathers’ ways and slander Jesus calling him a Samaritan, (the irony is stark because the Samaritans that we have heard about in John repented and turned to Jesus believed he would be savior of the world.) And even more strange say he has a demon, but they are serving the one the demons are allied with. -Then they stop, they don’t have a response. (If someone slanders in an augment the argument is lost, slander is not an argument.)
49) Jesus said no I do not have a demon, but I honor my Father, in speaking the truth, and your response is to slander the one who God sent – dishonor is not a pointing out of sin, so if they can’t then, Jesus it without sin, their response is slander. (We see that a lot I our time, when someone exposes some “fake truth”,  and explains why I can’t be true, often the defense is to slander and try to ridicule the one that made the argument, “you hate people, you are a medieval backwards thinker, you hate me, - well No, just like Jesus, people that speak the real truth speak it so people can be set free from the father of lies that have taken them captive, and believe lies and use slander as arguments. You might say but everyone does that, well that is true, and many are blind slaves of the devil.). Because opposite to Jesus, people do seek their own honor and glory not the Fathers.
50) Jesus seeks his father’s glory (no his own), and the Farther seeks Jesus’ glory, And God is able to Judge the actions and motives of everyone.
51) Jesus having the people on the ropes, and Amen Amen, He is showing them the road to truth and freedom, if anyone keeps my word, (from the father), he will never see death. (Eternal life is in the words of Jesus from the Father) – the promise of death from the body, to be present with the Lord. A life that starts with new birth by faith, and that last eternal. Without death.
52) The people don’t say tell us more about this mystery but keep, on their slander, now we know you have a demon, - (they don’t ) but they bring up that Abraham and the prophets died, and you clam that if people keep your words the will not die? Everyone we know has died… (But God is the God of Abrham, Issaih and Jacob and is not the God of the death but the living).
53) So, you are calming you are greater that Abraham and the prophets – What? Who is it that you say you are?
54) Jesus restated I am not here to get your glory; therefore, I am not trying to glorify myself, but God. And my father is the one that glorifies me. The one that you call your God. (Jesus saying, I care nothing about your vein praise of man, the glory I get I from God the creator of all). (That is the cure of the vein praise of man, that is one of the devils and our flesh desires).
55) God my father, you don’t know him, I do, (you should listen to my words form him). Then Jesus calls them liars again, saying if I said I did not know God I would be a liar as you are.  But I do know Him and also keep his word. (Jesus saying, he for fills Gods words, perfectly).
56) Oh, this is such a cool passage, Jesus said to them Abraham you father rejoiced, that he would see Jesus’ day, - Abraham saw it and was glad.
57) What that cant be true! You are not even 50 years old, but you have seen Abraham?
58) Amen, Amen, I say to you before Abraham was, I am/ that I am.  – Then the people get so mad
They picked up stones to throw at him, - why? Jesus just said I am, well that is the columniation of I am he, becomes a I am, - a clam to be God. In exodus I am that I am. The way God presents who he is. Jesus is calming, he is God.
That does not go well, - The people what to kill him.  But Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple.
Responses to Jesus,
Slander, wanting to stone him, showing that the people had the devil as a father because they did his deeds, - lie, slander, Jesus the holy one of God.
The devil The devil has many children, all that do his work, lie, deceive, seeking man’s praise, wanting to be praised, believing oneself to be God.
And therefore, can’t and don’t want to her Gods words, - salves to sin and the devils lies, and ones own motives.  Murder form the beginning, changing Gods word, changing the world for many. What lies are we believing about God? About us, about the world?
Jesus: (Jesus is the Gospel – is God).
Bread of life, giver of Living Water. Abiding in Jesus words, - that makes a true disciple – not just a confession, - true disciples will know the truth and that will give freedom.
Freedom from sin, the son sets free and a person is free indeed.  Jesus speaks the words his father has said. God. If you love God you would love Jesus, because God send Jesus to speak his words.
Jesus clams to be sinless, - and that all that hear his words are of God. God the father seeks Jesus glory, - Jesus dose not seek man’s vain praise. Jesus promises eternal life if anyone keeps his words, he will never see death.  Jesus speaks the truth and will not lie. And he calms to be the holy true God. I am, that I am.
