THE ANOINTING OF HOLY SPIRIT IS:
A GIFT TO BE RECEIVED
A COSTLY OIL TO STEWARD
A TREASURE TO GIVE
WHAT IS THE ANOINTING OF GOD?
WHAT IS THE ANOINTING OF GOD?
The anointing is God but is also the power and manifestation of the Holy Spirit for a given assignment, mission, and purpose.
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
Anointing ~ Hebrew: Mashach (maw-shakh) - To, smear, rub in, or consecrate.
When you are anointed you are marked and set apart for a purpose.
Jesus, Prophets, Kings etc.
Practice on sheep- (protection and prevention, kill parasites, healing, lessened impact of attacks, and peace)
Kings (poured on), healing (rubbed in), hospitality and honour (dabbed)
It is a smearing, rubbing off, setting apart
WHAT IS THE PRESENCE WITH SOMEONE?
WHAT IS THE PRESENCE WITH SOMEONE?
And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him.”
Holy Spirit within, Holy Spirit upon, and Holy Spirit WITH
Moses, Abraham, Joseph, Joshua, Samuel, Gideon, Hezekiah, Paul, all the Apostles
Takes place in these 3 stages
Presence~ Hebrew: Panim (paw-neem)- Face, presence, countenance~ a gem glistening when turned, a turning of the face
So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle.
The presence with speaks of a face to face relationship, fellowship with God. We see Moses also had the presence WITH.
God turned His face away from Jesus on the cross so His face could be turned towards us.
Jesus had Holy Spirit WITH, he was ready in every season, all the time to walk in the anointing and manifest GOD
Demo- In is just the beginning, upon is only temporary, but with is continuous fellowship and manifestation of Him
Many have the presence come and the presence lift but we can walk in a dimension of the presence always being with us, being ready to manifest GOD at any point.
A GIFT TO RECEIVE
A GIFT TO RECEIVE
Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel arose and went to Ramah.
Jesus in His baptism, David anointed by Samuel, Moses at the burning bush, Joseph and the coat of many colours.
There is an anointing, a marking and setting apart that takes place apart from salvation
Jesus was hidden and had no ministry until He was anointed
When we are anointed for an assignment we need the manifestation of His presence
God does not reveal Himself apart from His presence
When God anoints you, His approval is upon you (he didn’t become king right away)
A COSTLY OIL TO STEWARD
A COSTLY OIL TO STEWARD
Now Saul spoke to Jonathan his son and to all his servants, that they should kill David; but Jonathan, Saul’s son, delighted greatly in David.
David- persecuted and threats against his life
Joseph- persecuted, enslaved, and imprisoned
Moses- 40 years of preparation in the desert for the 40 years he would spend with Israel, and facing Pharaoh
Jesus- 40 days in the wilderness, garden of g...
Paul- persecuted, imprisoned, beaten, also a season in the wilderness
The olive has to be crushed before the oil can come out
Then, six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was who had been dead, whom He had raised from the dead.
There they made Him a supper; and Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table with Him.
Then Mary took a pound of very costly oil of spikenard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.
But one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, who would betray Him, said,
“Why was this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?”
This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money box; and he used to take what was put in it.
But Jesus said, “Let her alone; she has kept this for the day of My burial.
For the poor you have with you always, but Me you do not have always.”
You don’t just look at a bottle of oil, you break open the bottle and you pour it out
Oil is meant to be poured out, oil speaks of sacrifice
1 year’s wages- expensive, costly, and she sacrificed it
Religion… but she valued His presence
What do you need to sacrifice? Your desires? Your sin? Your finances? Time? Family?
A TREASURE TO GIVE
A TREASURE TO GIVE
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
He healed, then they healed, He delivered, then they delivered, He raised, then they raised
Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.
The anointing is there to be given, to be imparted
We are not alive for ourselves
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
We are alive to manifest Him
This is why you should embrace the gifts God has given you
Generational anointing
We will do even greater then Him
Pass it on
The anointing is free to receive but expensive to walk in
