To put this story in context lets briefly remember the main points along Abraham’s journey and what the main point has been in most cases. He’s called from his original country to live on faith travel down to a foreign land trusting in God. Abraham is promised that his offspring will become a great nation, that he’ll have the huge swath of land. Abraham occasionally tries to fulfill these prophecies through his own action and fails he then usually relies on God and God’s purpose gets accomplished.
