Summary
Summary
In this passage, we’re going to focus in on how Jesus talks about hypocrisy with our devotion to God.
We’ll see that Jesus tells us we shouldn’t do righteous and devotional things for an audience of others, but we should do them for God and God alone.

And this is important to us because, just like back then, we live in a very “attention-seeking” time. Everyone wants to be noticed, everyone wants to feel good about themselves, and everyone wants praise from other people. You probably have people you interact with who are always seeking attention and praise for what they’re doing. And the reality is, because we’re all sinful and broken, you probably face the temptation to want praise from others too. I know I do. That’s why this passage is important.
