Discovery Introduction
Discovery Introduction
This is week #3 discovery. And if you have your book with you, it should be sitting on the table right in front of you. Go ahead and turn to page 25, and that's the gold section at the very top. It says discover your purpose. Now, before we get too far today, if we've never met, my name is Aaron. My wife Stella and I were just honored to be able to serve on the pastoral team here and super excited to be able to share this with you today. To be honest with you, this is one of my favorite lessons in the All In journey because this is the lesson where we begin to uncover what God has placed inside of you. As your own special DNA. And on this screen right here, I just have a bunch of pictures of some of my friends here at the church who have found the purpose and the plan that God has on their life. And they're using that purpose and their plan to build this thing that Jesus Christ calls the church. And I'm excited about that. And honestly, that's my hope and my prayer for you today, that as we do this together today, that you'll begin to uncover some of the purpose and the plans that God has on your life. I believe that the greatest trick of the enemy is causing God's people to spend their life outside of the area of their gifting and their DNA and, and a lot of times that happens when people live their life frustrated, they live their life discouraged, they live their life in constant anxiety because they're actually living a life outside of God's plan.
So if you're at page 25, I want us to go ahead and take just a couple notes here.
1. You Are Valuable
1. You Are Valuable
Number one, at the bottom of your page, in the very first blank, I want you to write this. You are extremely valuable. You're extremely valuable to God. You're extremely valuable to us. I want you to know this, that when you step into this church. You are not just a number, but you're a person. And we look at every single person and our hope and our plan is that your gifts, your talents can be uncovered and unlocked. Not just to carry the weight of the church, but so that you are fulfilled as you serve the Lord
2. Every Member Is A Minister
2. Every Member Is A Minister
Number Two: Every member is a minister. A minister is not just a person who stands on a stage and preaches. A minister is not just a person who does weddings, funerals, baptisms. A minister as a person who communicates the gospel of Jesus Christ. And that's what God has called you to do. Go into all the world and preach the gospel. This is the Great Commission. God has has placed the gift of being a minister on your life and that's who the Lord wants you to be.
3. Every Task is Important
3. Every Task is Important
Every task is important, from cleaning the toilets to shaking hands to parking cars to serving in production on the worship team preaching. Coffee shop, kids ministry, it is all so vitally important.
4. Every Member Is A 10 In Some Area
4. Every Member Is A 10 In Some Area
And lastly, every member is A10 in some way, in some area, in some form. You know, I've heard people say, “ I'm just A two talent person”. “I'm just a one talent person”. And what they're referring to is actually a parable that Jesus told of the parable of the talents where a master is going away on a journey and he gives his servants. Some talents, some of those talents. One of those talents was buried in the ground for a later time. Some of those talents were invested and multiplied. Now, I think it's important for you to understand that those talents are not gifts. Those talents aren't passions or abilities. Those talents are actually talents of gold. It's a way of measuring gold weight. And so the the parable that Jesus is talking about, is he's actually talking about money. He's not talking about gifts or abilities. And so I don't want you to think , I'm just a one talent, I'm just A two talent person. Every one of you are a 10. God created you, He created your personality, He created your gifts and He didn't make any mistakes when he created you. And so, you are absolutely A10 the mistake that some people make as they look at another person's gifts and talents. And then our self esteem goes into the tank and we think to ourselves, while I must not be very special, I must not be very valuable, and that's the lie that Satan wants you to live with. And the reality is is just the opposite. You are A10. You are incredibly valuable to God.
Page 26
Go ahead and turn in your book to page 26. I want you to fill in a couple blanks here with me.
1. God Made You Personally
1. God Made You Personally
Number one, God made you personally. The Psalmist says this
13 For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb.
14 I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.
See the Psalmist recognize whom his creator was and because. It was God that created the universe. He recognizes that no matter what your personality, no matter what your gifts or talents are, you are special and you are valuable.
2. He Gives You Spiritual Gifts
2. He Gives You Spiritual Gifts
Number two: He gives you spiritual gifts. Here in just a moment, we're going to talk about those spiritual gifts . There are gifts that God has granted, and He's granted them just to you.
3. He Energizes Your Passions
3. He Energizes Your Passions
Number Three: He energizes your passions. There are things that cause you to just light up inside. They cause your face to glow. And that's because God gave you those passions. I've, I've heard people say: “I want to do this, I have a drive to do this, I just don't know if it's God's will”. And I can tell you pretty confidently that if that drive is something that has been in your life and it's not going away and it does not violate God's word, it is highly probable that that's actually a passion given to you by God. You don't need to be afraid of your passions. You need to follow those passions because those are things that the Lord has given you
4. He Shapes Your Abilities
4. He Shapes Your Abilities
#4 He shapes your abilities. There are things that you know how to do, no matter how cool or how mundane they are. But God has given you. Those abilities to do that and they're valuable to him. So we want to help you be able to discover a sweet spot. And that sweet spot is defined as this. It's where your personality, your gifts, your passions, and your abilities all converge and where those things come together. And this represented in this black dot right here where those four things converge. That's the sweet spot of your life. And you will find that as you are working in those in that area where all of those come together, that you will be most fulfilled.
Now most people never unlock that. They spend most of their time in an area of their life that they're not very good at and striving to become better. I think that people would do much better if they found what they're good at, what drives them, or where their passion is, and then focus on actually perfecting that passion. But you know al lot of people spend a lot of time in this black area. I call this false expectation. This is where you're outside of your comfort zone. You can do it, but it doesn't necessarily energize you. Your boss at work has probably asked you to spend some time in this black area. Well I'm not very good at that but I can get it done. But there is some stress there's some anxiety there's some pressure that comes with that. Now, this gold area here this is your comfort zone. OK- You can actually do these things pretty well they. They don't necessarily energize you, but you can do them well. They don't stress you out. Now, just for my own personal life- I pretty good with anything production, audio, video and lighting. Things like that would be in the gold area here. Now, if you were asking me to go serve as an office administrator, I would probably be in the black area. I can do it, but it definitely stresses me out a little bit. But then there's this white circle, and that is your absolute fit. That is your passion. That is you're gifting. For me, that's doing what I'm doing here today, sharing with you and helping you unlock your gift, your passions, and your abilities. One of the things that causes me such great joy as watching somebody come into our church for the very first time, go through all in.
One of the fun things that I love to see is people walking around on a weekend during our service. Taking photographs, using the video cameras, learning to do lights, and sound, All for the glory of God. And then they get done and they're looking and look. And then they sit back and say: “I did this for God”. It is so exciting to see people using their gifts and their talents for the Lord.
John Maxwell, a great motivational speaker. He says this
“”One of the greatest sins we can commit against God is not reaching the potential that he has placed on us”.
And I believe there is nothing more that Satan wants for your life than to leave you unfulfilled by working in an area that does not converge with your passion, doesn't converge with your abilities, doesn't converge with your gifts or your personality. And so I want to see us move out of that and move into what the Lord has. Look at this passage.
11 ‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.
You know, that was actually written to Israel as a prophetic word. Israel was still in slavery and there's somebody here you right now, you would say to yourself, you'd say, I don't know if I'm ever going to get there. I've been locked up in this old life so long, I don't know if I'll ever be able to step into that. But the Lord says to you today, He says that prophetic word was given to Israel even when they were enslaved. And so God definitely has a plan. He has a purpose on your life. He has a calling on your life. There is a reason that you were sitting even in this room today. And the Lord says to you, he says, I want to illuminate your path. I want to show you where your purpose is and your plans are.
So here in just a moment, I'm going to turn this class. Over to our table hosts, and they're going to help you get started on a disk assessment, a spiritual gift assessment, and a passion assessment. And these three assessments unlock the three areas of our life
Assessments
Assessments
DISC
DISC
The first assessment is the disc assessment. And this helps us unlock your leadership style, and how you interact with the people around you.
Page 35
Spiritual Gifts
Spiritual Gifts
Your spiritual gifts assessment, helps you uncover your ministry style. If you turn to page 35 you will see four blanks on that page. And this is the progressional work of the Spirit that enables you to minister under, and by Holy Spirit anointing. You can fill these blanks in like this:
The Holy Spirit is in you
The Holy Spirit Dispenses gifts to you

His gifts results in Greater works through you
Page 43
Passion
Passion
The last assessment you will find in your book is the Passion assessment. This assessment revelas how you interact with the world outside the walls of this church.
One page 43, you can fill in these two blanks. There are two types of passions:
People passions
Passions for certain Issues
What is happening in your culture? What is happening in your city? What's happening in your nation that causes you great concern.
To give you an idea:
My DISC assessment came back and I am a DI. OK, Dominant - Influence, steady and compliant. That's what DISC stands for, though that's an acronym. I'm a Heidi I rated 92. On dominant and are rated as 62 on influence. So that's how I lead. I'm a Type A personality, but I absolutely love people and I love being able to use what God has given me to influence the people around me with a slightly dominant at times personality.
My spiritual gifts: are leadership. Knowledge and service. OK, so I love raising people up, I love equipping people to rise to higher places of leadership and I love seeing them just step into a leadership capacity. But I I love doing that by serving people. I am very motivated as a servant. I love just walking around and filling in empty spaces and helping people in any way that I can.
My hope for you is that as you do these various assessments, that when it's all done, you would take some time around the tables and you'll just begin to share your results. This is what I learned about myself. This is my DISC assessment. These are my spiritual gifts. And I hope that I can be able to. And I hope that today is encouraging to you. I hope it's enlightening to you. But most of all, I hope that it unlocks a brand new future that allows you to step into the purposes and the plans that God has on your life. Let me pray for you right before I turn it over to the table host.
Heavenly Father, I just pray right now for my friends in this room. I pray that your Holy Spirit would encourage them. Lord, I pray for those who feel like they've been spending so much time outside of their comfort zone, outside of their passion and abilities… God, I pray that today as they do these assessments, Lord, I pray that you would turn a light on and help them to understand where you are leading them and where you are guiding them. God, I pray for each one of us, as we do this work today that you would help us to understand how to use our life, our gifts, our talents, our abilities and our personalities, to get “The Gospel In Every Home” in our cites. We love you Lord, and we thank you. Amen. God bless.
