The Author’s intention

John 11:1–6 ESV
Now a certain man was ill, Lazarus of Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha. It was Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was ill. So the sisters sent to him, saying, “Lord, he whom you love is ill.” But when Jesus heard it he said, “This illness does not lead to death. It is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.” Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. So, when he heard that Lazarus was ill, he stayed two days longer in the place where he was.
Lazarus and his two sisters where lived at Bethany are whom Jesus loves.
He was ill and it looks like he died while the message was delivered to Jesus because it took approximately one day to go the place where Jesus was.
V4, Even though Jesus knows that Lazarus died, He insisted that this illness does not lead to death.

The final miracle in the book of John

This miracle is a climax of the book of John and also this is the final miracle in the book. Through this miracle and story, John wanted to show and gave the proof of Jesus. Chapter 20:31 says, “but did they have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the son of God and that believing you may have life in his name.” So this is a very beautiful and amazing miracle of Jesus to show his deity and sovereign and.

Jesus’ intention for taking two days longer

Apostle John describes precisely about the reaction of Jesus. Jesus said that this sickness does not lead to death, but for the glory of a Got so that the son of God may be glorified by it. Jesus loved the family. And he wanted to reveal the glory of God. So these things are the reasons why Jesus let Lazarus to be in death.
John 11:6 ESV
So, when he heard that Lazarus was ill, he stayed two days longer in the place where he was.
so means therefore. therefore indicates the reasons why Jesus take two day longer.
The goal that he delayed two days longer is to clarify the divine nature and the deity of Christ but also to have a people and the disciples be believing in his name. God wants disciples have a deeper faith in Jesus Christ.
2. In the text, John wanted to illustrate that Jesus loved them to be suffering and painful because He just loves them. Got allows people to be painful and suffering is to clarify who God is. In the truth God wants His people to enjoy the final success.
That is a great insight when Marta said that he you loves is sick. Love here is a ‘Phileo’, not like ‘Agapao’ . Jesus loves him as a friend with the great affection. In the human relationship, Jesus cries out for he’s your friend death. Jesus has a great affection and emotion and friendship for his people.
Martha and Lazarus and Mary loved Jesus and they relied on him when they’re in suffering with their brothers death.
3. The people whom Jesus loved, will be eventually pleased with God’s glorification.
Jesus had an affection to Lazarus and loved him personally. Also, Jesus loves him and his family in God’s love because they belong to Him before the foundation of the world. People who are loved by Jesus will be finally seeing the glorification of God.
4. Therefore, God’s people will be able able to be God-centered through their trials.

The most worse sorrow

as Lazarus family suffered in his sickness and death we will be suffering in deficiency of money, worldly things, and in the relationship as well as me. But the most sorrowful and painful deficiency is death which comes from sin. In other word, you cannot overcome the deficiency in your life with your wealth, reputation, and romance as long as you would not take out the death which is the most painful in every human. This is why the life, resurrection and salvation is incomparable to anything in the world.

The eternal promise to me

If Jesus loves you and you have confirmation of it, His promise will be keep going forever.
John 11:25–26 ESV
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
His word that “this illness does not lead to death” is same principle to us. As Lazarus and his sisters had to wait four days in sorrow Christians have to with the resurrection and complete salvation.
Jesus wants us to have a strong belief on our resurrection and perfect salvation.
How do you compare that with the Harry Potter flying witches engines vampires transformers, aliens time, travelers, disciplining, supernatural powers
