This Saturday! We are back to coffee at Historic Perk in downtown Springfield. I'll be there from 8:30 until about 9:45-10a This Saturday!
Anyone else like to share a Friday Drive? Let me know! Let’s connect!
You ever make a mistake? Like a serious one, two or three?
I used to be a magnate for the police in California. My wife Elisa can attest to the many times I have been pulled over for various reasons. Right now, there is a reason I don't like driving into Mount Juliet... That's for another day.
“Learn from the mistakes of others. You can’t live long enough to make them all yourself.” - Eleanor Roosevelt
“What is done cannot be undone, but at least one can keep it from happening again.” - Anne Frank
“Mistakes are part of the dues one pays for a full life.” - Sophia Loren
When you have made enough mistakes in life you can learn from them or be controlled by them. The effects of most mistakes are just a temporary circumstance you have to endure, process, and then hopefully learn from.
Some mistakes are more costly than others but so is the teaching that can come from it.
Side note- God's economy isn't like ours. These mistakes can cost you, but Christ the Redeemer pays the bill, while here on earth, you have the opportunity to share thru your mistakes. You can call it a testimony of how Christ the Redeemer paid your mistake. It can show you how to capitalize on what was the enemy meant for evil can be glory for God’s Kingdom. I also think most of our mistakes are for us to learn, however I find many, many , many times, I get to share them with others and I get to point out how God is faithful even when I mess up.

Peter the disciple made some major mistakes -
Matthew 14:25-31 25 Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. 26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. 27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” 28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” 29 “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” 31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”
Peter sank in the water - he also walked on water! But symbolically he took his vision off of Jesus and began to sink. But think of the audacity mind set it took to get out of the boat, walk past all those other people, step out onto the water, not sink immediately, and walk!... ON WATER!!!
Matthew 26:34-35 34 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “this very night, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times.” 35 But Peter declared, “Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you.” And all the other disciples said the same.
Peter Denies Jesus - The most talked about mistakes of Peter is when he denied Jesus while in difficult situation. Jesus asked Peter, three times "do you love me? Peter says yes then Jesus replies, Feed my sheep. Then Jesus drops a truth bomb on Peter about how he, Peter, will deny knowing him three times before a rooster will crow... I wonder? Did that mean not a single rooster in the whole world would crow or just the ones in the vicinity? I'll find out when I get to heaven. After the third denial of Jesus the rooster was free to crow again.
Matthew 26:47-52 47 While he was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived. With him was a large crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and the elders of the people. 48 Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: “The one I kiss is the man; arrest him.” 49 Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” and kissed him. 50 Jesus replied, “Do what you came for, friend.”[d] Then the men stepped forward, seized Jesus and arrested him. 51 With that, one of Jesus’ companions reached for his sword, drew it out and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear. 52 “Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him, “for all who draw the sword will die by the sword.
Peter cut the servants ear off - The cajónes on Peter to strike a servant who had Mob ready to do mob business and just go cut off his ear! In the same moment without missing a beat Jesus picks the sliced ear off the ground and puts it back. Healing the man right Infront of everyone - including Peter.
Even after all of that! Peter became a pillar of the foundational church we know today.
From those mistakes, His side steps, his reactions of passion in difficult times, Peter learned, repented, focused and began to Feed Jesus sheep. He didn't allow the payment that Jesus gave go to waste. He turned his tests into a testimony.

Today, My ask, my Challenge
Own the Mistake don't blame it on anyone else-Then disown it by giving it to God. Ask for forgiveness for the things that separate you from Him. Prov 3:11-14 My son, do not despise or shrink from the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of or impatient about or loathe or abhor His reproof, For whom the Lord loves He corrects, even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights. Happy (blessed, fortunate, enviable) is the man who finds skillful and godly Wisdom, and the man who gets understanding [drawing it forth from God’s Word and life’s experiences], For the gaining of it is better than the gaining of silver, and the profit of it better than fine gold.
Ask Jesus for wisdom, teaching, growth, change, protection, and continued grace. Learn from this and learn new habits if necessary. Psalm 9:9 The Lord also will be a refuge and a high tower for the oppressed, a refuge and a stronghold in times of trouble (high cost, destitution, and desperation).
Listen for His response and Thank Him for speaking to you, because He will do it. 1 Tim 1:12-14 12 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength to do his work. He considered me trustworthy and appointed me to serve him, 13 even though I used to blaspheme the name of Christ. In my insolence, I persecuted his people. But God had mercy on me because I did it in ignorance and unbelief. 14 Oh, how generous and gracious our Lord was! He filled me with the faith and love that come from Christ Jesus.
Be Blessed! Remember you are Blessed to be a blessing! Hope to see you tomorrow Morning at 8:30ish at Historic perk in Springfield
