FROM DEATH TO LIFE

Pray
Chapter 9 a transformation chapter
Saul is going through a great change in his life.
The church is going through a great change
This continues in the rest of chapter 9
John 5:24 CSB
24 “Truly I tell you, anyone who hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not come under judgment but has passed from death to life.
keep this in mind as we go today.
Acts 9:31 CSB
31 So the church throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and was strengthened. Living in the fear of the Lord and encouraged by the Holy Spirit, it increased in numbers.
The Church is growing even in the midst of persecution.
The church wouldn’t stop telling people about Jesus.
They feared the Lord.
They were encouraged by the Holy Spirit.
Their level of commitment was great.
Acts 9:32–35 CSB
32 As Peter was traveling from place to place, he also came down to the saints who lived in Lydda. 33 There he found a man named Aeneas, who was paralyzed and had been bedridden for eight years. 34 Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you. Get up and make your bed,” and immediately he got up. 35 So all who lived in Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord.
Aeneas (a-nee-us) Lydda (lid-u)
traveling from place to place. When did this change?
Acts 8:14 “14 When the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them.”
Acts 1:8 “8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.””
Peter is now on mission.
Who healed this man? “Jesus Christ heals you”
“get up and make your bed” Sounds a lot like how Jesus healed the man that was lowered through the roof.
These towns was turned to Jesus. Acts 9:35 “35 So all who lived in Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord.”
Acts 9:36–38 CSB
36 In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (which is translated Dorcas). She was always doing good works and acts of charity. 37 About that time she became sick and died. After washing her, they placed her in a room upstairs. 38 Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples heard that Peter was there and sent two men to him who urged him, “Don’t delay in coming with us.”
Tabitha was while loved, look at what she was doing.
“Don’t delay in coming with us”
Acts 9:39–43 CSB
39 Peter got up and went with them. When he arrived, they led him to the room upstairs. And all the widows approached him, weeping and showing him the robes and clothes that Dorcas had made while she was with them. 40 Peter sent them all out of the room. He knelt down, prayed, and turning toward the body said, “Tabitha, get up.” She opened her eyes, saw Peter, and sat up. 41 He gave her his hand and helped her stand up. He called the saints and widows and presented her alive. 42 This became known throughout Joppa, and many believed in the Lord. 43 Peter stayed for some time in Joppa with Simon, a leather tanner.
Why are the widows weeping? Tabitha helped and loved them.
“Tabitha, get up”
Mark 5:41 “41 Then he took the child by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum” (which is translated, “Little girl, I say to you, get up”).”
WHY! “many believed in the Lord”
Peter stayed with a tanner. Okay?
tanner dealt with dead animals this wasn’t allowed in the jewish faith.
tanners by law must live at least 75 feet from any jewish home.
Peter is a different man now.
What is the greatest miracle in this passage?
Maybe the lame man
Maybe the dead women brought back to life
No it was the impact of this miracles that was bigger.
Acts 9:35 “35 So all who lived in Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord.”
Acts 9:42 “42 This became known throughout Joppa, and many believed in the Lord.”
The greatest miracle we see is the passing from death to life.
John 5:24 CSB
24 “Truly I tell you, anyone who hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not come under judgment but has passed from death to life.
Have you passed from death to life?
If you have are you living like it?
