His Victory is our Victory
His Victory is our Victory
unity with Christ is the key to living the Christian life:
When you came to Christ, you were “circumcised,” but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision—the cutting away of your sinful nature. For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead.
When we came to Christ there was a cutting away of the old-self
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
New Creation- the removal of the old-self and then the union with Christ- this union is seen in the dead, burial, and the raising to new life
Baptism- is more then just a religious act it is a Spiritual identification with Christ
While in the physical you are being washed with water- in the Spirit your old-self is dying, buried, and you are rising to new Live!
That same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead- Raises you from the dead life to a new life united with Christ-
Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else.
But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)
You have been raised - This is now not on the day of resurrection- the resurrection and the Life (Jesus) resides in you!
This is the Union we have with Christ:
We have been buried
and we have been raised to new life
This is all because we trust the mighty power of God
What does our resurrection look like?
What does our resurrection look like?
You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins.
Who Made us alive?
God did
How did God makes us alive?
with Christ
It begins with the forgiveness of All our Sins
He canceled the record of charges that were against us
Canceled- exaleipho- To wipe away- to blot out- To smear completely
He disarmed the the spiritual rulers and authorities that were over us
Disarmed- apekduo- Stripped away- the removal of authority and power!
He Shamed them in their defeat!
Shamed- deigmatizo- He made an example of them-
He triumphed over them on the cross
Triumphed- thriambeuo- to lead in triumph- “He leads us about here and there and displays us to all the world”-
WE are the display of His victory- like a parade
But thanks be to God, Who in Christ always leads us in triumph [as trophies of Christ’s victory] and through us spreads and makes evident the fragrance of the knowledge of God everywhere,
Your Life has become a testimony of the Victory of Christ on the Cross! and Christ leads you in victory-
You are a trophy of Christ’s victory!
