Psalm 46 NASB95

For the choir director. A Psalm of the sons of Korah, set to Alamoth. A Song. 1 God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea; 3 Though its waters roar and foam, Though the mountains quake at its swelling pride. Selah. 4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, The holy dwelling places of the Most High. 5 God is in the midst of her, she will not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns. 6 The nations made an uproar, the kingdoms tottered; He raised His voice, the earth melted. 7 The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our stronghold. Selah. 8 Come, behold the works of the Lord, Who has wrought desolations in the earth. 9 He makes wars to cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariots with fire. 10 “Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” 11 The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our stronghold. A Psalm of Praise, of David. 1 I will extol You, my God, O King, And I will bless Your name forever and ever. 2 Every day I will bless You, And I will praise Your name forever and ever. 3 Great is the Lord, and highly to be praised, And His greatness is unsearchable. 4 One generation shall praise Your works to another, And shall declare Your mighty acts. 5 On the glorious splendor of Your majesty And on Your wonderful works, I will meditate. 6 Men shall speak of the power of Your awesome acts, And I will tell of Your greatness. 7 They shall eagerly utter the memory of Your abundant goodness And will shout joyfully of Your righteousness. 8 The Lord is gracious and merciful; Slow to anger and great in lovingkindness. 9 The Lord is good to all, And His mercies are over all His works. 10 All Your works shall give thanks to You, O Lord, And Your godly ones shall bless You. 11 They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom And talk of Your power; 12 To make known to the sons of men Your mighty acts And the glory of the majesty of Your kingdom. 13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, And Your dominion endures throughout all generations. 14 The Lord sustains all who fall And raises up all who are bowed down. 15 The eyes of all look to You, And You give them their food in due time. 16 You open Your hand And satisfy the desire of every living thing. 17 The Lord is righteous in all His ways And kind in all His deeds. 18 The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth. 19 He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He will also hear their cry and will save them. 20 The Lord keeps all who love Him, But all the wicked He will destroy. 21 My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord, And all flesh will bless His holy name forever and ever.

1 Then Job answered, 2 “Oh that my grief were actually weighed And laid in the balances together with my calamity! 3 “For then it would be heavier than the sand of the seas; Therefore my words have been rash. 4 “For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, Their poison my spirit drinks; The terrors of God are arrayed against me. 5 “Does the wild donkey bray over his grass, Or does the ox low over his fodder? 6 “Can something tasteless be eaten without salt, Or is there any taste in the white of an egg? 7 “My soul refuses to touch them; They are like loathsome food to me.

And what is my end, that I should endure? 12 “Is my strength the strength of stones, Or is my flesh bronze? 13 “Is it that my help is not within me, And that deliverance is driven from me?

14 “For the despairing man there should be kindness from his friend; So that he does not forsake the fear of the Almighty. 15 “My brothers have acted deceitfully like a wadi, Like the torrents of wadis which vanish, 16 Which are turbid because of ice And into which the snow melts. 17 “When they become waterless, they are silent, When it is hot, they vanish from their place. 18 “The paths of their course wind along, They go up into nothing and perish. 19 “The caravans of Tema looked, The travelers of Sheba hoped for them. 20 “They were disappointed for they had trusted, They came there and were confounded. 21 “Indeed, you have now become such, You see a terror and are afraid. 22 “Have I said, ‘Give me something,’ Or, ‘Offer a bribe for me from your wealth,’ 23 Or, ‘Deliver me from the hand of the adversary,’ Or, ‘Redeem me from the hand of the tyrants’?

24 “Teach me, and I will be silent; And show me how I have erred. 25 “How painful are honest words! But what does your argument prove? 26 “Do you intend to reprove my words, When the words of one in despair belong to the wind? 27 “You would even cast lots for the orphans And barter over your friend. 28 “Now please look at me, And see if I lie to your face. 29 “Desist now, let there be no injustice; Even desist, my righteousness is yet in it. 30 “Is there injustice on my tongue? Cannot my palate discern calamities?
