Jesus, the Angel of The Exodus
Jesus, the Angel of The Exodus
Exodus 23:20–21 “Behold, I send an angel before you to guard you on the way and to bring you to the place that I have prepared. 21 Pay careful attention to him and obey his voice; do not rebel against him, for he will not pardon your transgression, for my name is in him.”
1 Corinthians 10:1–5 “For I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea, 2 and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, 3 and all ate the same spiritual food, 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them, and the Rock was Christ. 5 Nevertheless, with most of them God was not pleased, for they were overthrown in the wilderness.”

Numbers 14:15–19 “Now if you kill this people as one man, then the nations who have heard your fame will say, 16 ‘It is because the Lord was not able to bring this people into the land that he swore to give to them that he has killed them in the wilderness.’ 17 And now, please let the power of the Lord be great as you have promised, saying, 18 ‘The Lord is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, forgiving iniquity and transgression, but he will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, to the third and the fourth generation.’ 19 Please pardon the iniquity of this people, according to the greatness of your steadfast love, just as you have forgiven this people, from Egypt until now.””
He did NOT save all the people
He did NOT save all the people
Numbers 14:29–30 “your dead bodies shall fall in this wilderness, and of all your number, listed in the census from twenty years old and upward, who have grumbled against me, 30 not one shall come into the land where I swore that I would make you dwell, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun.”
The Lord saved a people; His People, because of His own Plan and Promise. Yet, in a picture of Eternal and Righteous Judgment, He did NOT pardon those who murmured and rebelled against Him; those who did not believe. DO NOT MISS THIS PICTURE!
Outwardly they were all one people, yet God made a distinction!
Make NO mistake; The Lord knows those who are truly His, and He knows those who identify outwardly, but not in their hearts.
Angels in Chains
Angels in Chains
Specific Angels
Specific Angels
2 Peter 2:4 “For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to chains of gloomy darkness to be kept until the judgment;”
Revelation 20:2 “And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years,”
They left their proper dwelling
They left their proper dwelling
Probably a reference to:
Genesis 6:1–2 “When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, 2 the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose.”
The angels left their appointed ministry, their powerful and holy positions to dabble in vain and sinful fleshly pursuits with the people on Earth, stirring up lust and unholy unions: “they took as wives any they chose.”
They were Judged
They were Judged
Eternal Chains; they are to this day waiting on the final Judgement Day wherein they will find no mercy, no relief; only condemnation and the punishment of eternal fire,
How much more those who professed faith in Christ and were Baptized; outwardly if not inwardly a Child of God leaving their appointed ministry, their Spirit-empowered and holy positions to dabble in vanity and sin to the end that sinners are encouraged, seemingly justified in their sins instead of being called to repentance unto salvation.
Sodom and Gomorrah
Sodom and Gomorrah
AND the surrounding cities!
AND the surrounding cities!
Genesis 19:29 “So it was that, when God destroyed the cities of the valley, God remembered Abraham and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow when he overthrew the cities in which Lot had lived.”
Sexual Immorality
Sexual Immorality
Genesis 19:5–7 “And they called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us, that we may know them.” 6 Lot went out to the men at the entrance, shut the door after him, 7 and said, “I beg you, my brothers, do not act so wickedly.”
Genesis 19:11 “And they struck with blindness the men who were at the entrance of the house, both small and great, so that they wore themselves out groping for the door.”
They were so given into and over to their sin; so consumed by it, that even at this great obstacle which should have given them pause they wore themselves out; did NOT give up on doing the wickedness that was in their hearts and in their flesh.
A picture of judgement

Jude 7 “…Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities… serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.”
Revelation 14:10–11 “[The enemies of God] will drink the wine of God’s wrath, poured full strength into the cup of his anger, and [they] will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. 11 And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever, and they have no rest, day or night, these worshipers of the beast and its image, and whoever receives the mark of its name.””
Yet lot and his daughters were saved
Yet lot and his daughters were saved
Genesis 19:15–17 “As morning dawned, the angels urged Lot, saying, “Up! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, lest you be swept away in the punishment of the city.” 16 But he lingered. So the men seized him and his wife and his two daughters by the hand, the Lord being merciful to him, and they brought him out and set him outside the city. 17 And as they brought them out, one said, “Escape for your life. Do not look back or stop anywhere in the valley. Escape to the hills, lest you be swept away.””
Sinner who is apart from God, all who have no assurance of salvation in Jesus, do not be like those who fell in the wickedness due to their unbelief and rebellion. Do not be like those fallen angels who turned away from holiness and glory; focusing on what is temporary and sinful. Do not be like those men in Sodom and Gomorrah, who serve as an example of God’s wrathful judgement. Turn away from sinful rebellion and unbelief: Look to Jesus and be rescued, be saved for eternity.
Church Family, though they are unpleasant, consider these examples. Take the judgement of our God seriously. Recognize what you have been saved from. Let us examine ourselves to see if we point our loved ones toward Christ and living a holy life in His church, or if our living example encourages choices and behaviors that lead to the punishment of eternal fire.
Church Family, let us soberly consider the examples and warning of judgment. Let us worship our savior and labor to point souls to Christ and salvation.
