1In the United states we are broken up into regions you have the west north east and the west. In those regions all of them deal with with their diverse natural disasters. In the North around Detroit and Pennsylvania,Ohio and New York, the have to deal with the brutal cold winters there. We think it get gets cold here we haven’t seen nothing compared to what they get. They have 10 in of snow storms they have to deal with the brutal cold. But when come all they way across to the west where California and Nevada They have deal with extream heat it get out there but not only that we just seen where our brothers and sisters in California was dealing with the wildfires that seem to sometime be uncontrollable, not only that they have to deal with the natural earth qaukes that can destroy a city and Homes. We go down to the southern states in Florida and georgia alabama Louisiana Tennesse, Texas They not only deal with the heat but they have to deal with those tropical storms that come off the water that floods cities and for those to evacuate from there home. Even in my life time the worst storm i ever seen in my life was Hurricane Katrina that was devasting until this day I know people who live in Tulsa because the lost everything and had to move and get out of there because of Hurricane Katrina. And even where we all reside now in the midwest in Oklahoma where we have been given the nick name tornado alley beacuse of the force tornado that come I member about 7-8 years ago maybe longer when that tornado came and tore through the city of Moore OK. Leaving that community in devastating places home all tore to pieces. All im trying to say is no matter where you relocate in The United states you will be subject to natural storms that come. You cannot avoid them you cannot get around them. Just Like them storm in life we all will deal with the storms that comes in our life and if we are going to make to it the promise land we’ve Got learn how to build on a strong foundation that cannot be shaken in the time of trouble.

MPT: That’s what our text is about this morning Jesus is teaching on what we call the sermon on the mount while he is getting ready to finish he begins to teach his listeners about building on the Right foundation to bring stability in our lives

MPS: That’s what our sermon is about this morning that is we can make through this life despite the storms and various trials that come in our when we learn how to build our faith on sure and strong foundation.

Exegesis: 24 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock

The Sermon on the Mount ends with this parable, which attests to the reliability of Jesus’ teaching. Wise people hear His words and respond in obedience; foolish people disregard His words, fail to act according to His teachings, and suffer destructive consequences. So Jesus begins to tell two stories between two builders who begins to build a house and begin to build habitation we can assume that where using the same materials they were using the same methods but the differences is the use two kinds of foundations. So Jesus gives us a format how to begin to build on right foundations. He first said the first thing we suppose to do is adhere to the words and teaching of Jesus christ. Many times we try to build on things that is temporal we try to build them on money , build them on our fraternity and sorority. And our networking and well known name. But we not only need to here the words but we need to obey them in our everyday life so in essence Jesus is teaching is that he is the Rock and we need to build our hope on christ. Thats why the saints use to say on christ the solid rock i stand all other ground is sinking sand i dare not trust the sweetest frame but wholly lean on jesus name.

Bible Passage: Mt 7:24–27

Summary: In this passage, Jesus teaches the importance of building our lives on a strong foundation, illustrated by the contrast between a wise man who builds on rock and a foolish man who builds on sand. The storms that come symbolize the trials and challenges of life that test our faith and reliance on God's word.
Application: This message can encourage Christians to evaluate the foundations of their own lives—whether their beliefs and practices are rooted in God's word or influenced by temporary cultural shifts. It can offer hope and reassurance that when we align ourselves with Christ, we can withstand life's challenges, as our faith is anchored in His truth.
Teaching: The sermon will teach that true wisdom is evident in one's actions and choices that align with God's teachings. It will emphasize the need for a solid spiritual foundation and practical obedience to God's commandments as foretold by Jesus, encouraging believers to not only hear the word but do it.
How this passage could point to Christ: In the larger narrative of Scripture, Christ is our ultimate foundation—the cornerstone of our faith. This passage points us to Jesus as the source of our stability, revealing that building our lives on His teachings leads to everlasting security and fellowship with God.
Big Idea: To withstand the storms of life, we must build our lives on the firm foundation of Jesus Christ and His teachings.
Recommended Study: Consider exploring the historical context of this passage in Matthew using Logos to understand the practical implications of building on specific geographical features of ancient Palestine. You might also want to look into the use of metaphor in Jesus’ parables to effectively communicate spiritual truths, as well as the implications of hearing versus doing in discipleship.

1. Wise Builders Choose Rock

Mt 7:24-25
Perhaps you could emphasize the wisdom of the man who builds his house on the rock by linking it to choosing Christ as our foundation. This decision signifies a deep commitment to not only hear Christ's words but to act on them, thereby securing ourselves against life's inevitable trials. Highlight that obedience in both small and big matters fortifies our faith, reflecting a life committed to Christ's teachings and leading to eternal security.

2. Foolish Builders Fail

Mt 7:26-27
You could explore the folly of building on sand by comparing it to relying on transient values or self-directed ways instead of Christ. Underline that neglecting His word results in collapse under pressure, portraying the instability of a life without Christ. This point can caution listeners about the dangers of superficial or convenient Christianity, urging them to a deeper, more authentic commitment to Jesus.
