Last week in Chapter 12 Jesus warned the people that he had come to bring a cleansing or purifying fire to Earth. He had not come to bring peace but to bring a division that would split apart families, turning them against each other. This is because Jesus confronts everyone with a choice. When you hear His gospel, will you side with him? or not? There is no middle ground with Jesus, and because he requires a response, family groups will be torn apart when some choose to follow him and others refuse to do so.
