fe. Here are six key reasons
why someone should be baptized, even though it does not save them:
1. Baptism is an Act of Obedience to Christ
Jesus Commanded It
Jesus commanded baptism
for His followers.
Matthew 28:19-20 – “Go and make disciples of all
nations, baptizing them…”
John 14:15 – “If you love me, keep my
commands.”
Even though baptism doesn’t save,
obedience demonstrates our love and submission to Christ.
Early Church Practice
Acts 2:38 – Peter at Pentecost: “Repent
and be baptized…”
Acts 8:36-38 – The Ethiopian eunuch was
baptized immediately after believing.
2. Baptism is a Public Declaration of Faith
It is an outward sign of an
inward transformation.
Romans 10:9 – “If you declare with your
mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart… you will be saved.”
Baptism is a way to publicly
declare that Jesus is Lord of your life.
Galatians 3:27 – “For all of you who were
baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.”
3. Baptism Identifies Us with Christ’s Death, Burial, and Resurrection
It symbolizes dying to sin and
being raised to new life in Christ.
Romans 6:3-4 – “We were therefore buried with
Him through baptism into death… just as Christ was raised… we too may live
a new life.”
Baptism is a visual
representation of the gospel.
4. Baptism Follows the Example of Jesus
Jesus Himself was baptized.
Matthew 3:13-17 – Jesus was baptized “to fulfill
all righteousness.”
If Jesus, who was sinless, was
baptized, how much more should we follow His example?
5. Baptism Connects Us with the Church Community
It signifies joining the body
of Christ.
Acts 2:41 – “Those who accepted his
message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number
that day.”
Baptism is not just personal—it
is also communal, showing unity with other believers.
6. Baptism is a Mark of Commitment and Spiritual Growth
It serves as a spiritual
milestone, reinforcing one’s decision to follow Christ.
Acts 22:16 – “And now what are you waiting
for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on His name.”
Baptism strengthens personal
faith and deepens commitment to live for Jesus.
Conclusion: Why Get Baptized?
Even though baptism does not save,
it is an essential step of faith because:
✅ Jesus commanded it.
✅ It is a public testimony of faith.
✅ It identifies us with Christ’s work.
✅ It follows Jesus’ example.
✅ It connects us to the church family.
✅ It strengthens our spiritual commitment.
If a believer has put their faith in
Christ but hasn’t been baptized yet, the question becomes:
“What is holding you back?”
