Joshua 17:15–16 ESV
And Joshua said to them, “If you are a numerous people, go up by yourselves to the forest, and there clear ground for yourselves in the land of the Perizzites and the Rephaim, since the hill country of Ephraim is too narrow for you.” The people of Joseph said, “The hill country is not enough for us. Yet all the Canaanites who dwell in the plain have chariots of iron, both those in Beth-shean and its villages and those in the Valley of Jezreel.”
Joshua 17:17–18 ESV
Then Joshua said to the house of Joseph, to Ephraim and Manasseh, “You are a numerous people and have great power. You shall not have one allotment only, but the hill country shall be yours, for though it is a forest, you shall clear it and possess it to its farthest borders. For you shall drive out the Canaanites, though they have chariots of iron, and though they are strong.”
Pray that we understand our identity; that we understand what must be uprooted; courage to pluck out of our land the things that must now be removed
When the Essence of the King is revealed and we begin to walk in it
we are being fruitful and multiplying
There will certainly be perils as we begin to see the ground unable to support our growth
we no longer fit into this world; the society is no longer who we are
do not settle for “This is enough…”
Four Demands;
clear out the forest (the enemy’s army as a dense forest)
an image of unfruitfulness
take possession of the entirety of the land
Do not settle for a part of the vision
engage the enemy head on
Perizzites (Villagers inhabiting the most fertile part of Canaan and Rephaim giants… dead Spirits)
clear out the chariots of iron and the strongman
chariots of Iron (affliction; chastisement; slavery…etc)
strong… “Kingdom of heaven suffers violence and the violent take by force”
in the greatest of promises and visions spoken over us is a space that we must engage the enemy on.
*there is a danger far greater to not do the above.*
Ephraim is being challenged to thrive in the essence of the King

The essence of the King in us means that we are made for more than this world has to offer, and much more than we often settle for.

Reminder of the Essence of the King

Genesis 41:52 ESV
The name of the second he called Ephraim, “For God has made me fruitful in the land of my affliction.”
Written into Ephraim’s name from his birth is the function he was to carry out
Able to bear fruit in the middle of the affliction
No matter where you are… no matter where you have been… you can bear fruit
The essence of the King that is in you can thrive… you were made for moments
Not just able to yield a fruit…
1 Chronicles 12:30 ESV
Of the Ephraimites 20,800, mighty men of valor, famous men in their fathers’ houses.
The tribe of Ephraim were fierce warriors
They were well known by others as “mighty men of valor”
This is in there essence… this is who they are…
A few weeks ago I mentioned to not be the only one who is not aware of your Kingly Essence…
You are a numerous people (reminder of who they are)
You go up and clear the land (reminder of the assignment)
Reminder of the anointing they carry
You go and meet the Perizites Villagers who have taken up residence in the most fertile land head on
You go and meet the Rephaim (giants… spirits of the departed)
No one is going to do your assignment for you… No Carries your anointing

Fruitful in the Land of Adversity

Remember that Ephraim means fruitful in the land of adversity
As they are expanding they are faced with every reason to not advance
Joshua 17:15 ESV
And Joshua said to them, “If you are a numerous people, go up by yourselves to the forest, and there clear ground for yourselves in the land of the Perizzites and the Rephaim, since the hill country of Ephraim is too narrow for you.”
Yes physical enemies, giants,
Spirits this is the forest they will have to clear out…
What is your forest?

Locate, Close With, Destroy the Enemy

Do not Settle for a Small Portion

Joshua 17:16 ESV
The people of Joseph said, “The hill country is not enough for us. Yet all the Canaanites who dwell in the plain have chariots of iron, both those in Beth-shean and its villages and those in the Valley of Jezreel.”
The enemy will have you believing even a small portion of the vision is enough
The enemy will present you with a perverted version of what is all you can have
This is where it is important to make sense of who the enemy is, how they are operating, where they are operating
It is imperative for you not to settle for a small portion of the vision

Destroy the Enemy from the Land

Drive out the enemy Josh 16:10
Joshua 16:10 ESV
However, they did not drive out the Canaanites who lived in Gezer, so the Canaanites have lived in the midst of Ephraim to this day but have been made to do forced labor.
Part of locating, closing the distance, is to know
the second part is there can be nothing left of the enemy
we will see the portion left behind will lead Ephraim astray
You have a nature that belongs to the King you were not made to be a slave to this world… you were not made to be conquered by the things of this world… you were made for so much more.
