The Importance of Faith
The Importance of Faith
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
For we walk by faith, not by sight.
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Look at the connection of both spiritual family and physical family life to faithfulness in Colossians 3:
We are raised with Christ to set our minds on things above (Col. 3:1-11).
We are called into the one body of a spiritual family (Col. 3:12-17).
The nature of the spiritual family will be evident in our physical families (Col. 3:18-25).
A Faith-Filled Church Family
A Faith-Filled Church Family
Christianity is lived within the context of "Family."
Brothers and Sisters
Brothers and Sisters
And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last first.
But you, do not be called ‘Rabbi’; for One is your Teacher, the Christ, and you are all brethren.
Mothers and Fathers
Mothers and Fathers
Then He said to the disciple, “Behold your mother!” And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home.
And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last first.
The Nature of Family
The Nature of Family
"Family" is not simply a legal structure!
We are not family in name only.
My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.
"Family" is shown in the way we live.
But concerning brotherly love you have no need that I should write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another;
Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart,
We love Him because He first loved us.
If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.
"Family" is characterized by togetherness.
And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.
Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.
