Personal Ministry Goal: Make disciples who make disciples.

Hopefully, unless you are new to our ministry in the past month this phrase is not a new one. This year I want to be intentional, more than usual, at developing disciples in our church.

Walking with Jesus is a journey.

It is not something that happens just once or only at a certain age. Discipleship is a journey that encompasses our whole life.

Jesus is calling for disciples in 2025.

Jesus is still calling individuals to Himself. If I did not believe this I would not be “here”.

Jesus invites us to “come and see”.

This isn’t an invitation to spectate but to be in close relationship with Him. The call of discipleship will always point people to Jesus. Not a church, a pastor, a youth ministry but only and always to Jesus.

The role of others.

Notice in our passage this morning how discipleship can work: people sharing with others who Jesus is. First with John the Baptist and then with Andrew.

Jesus as Lamb of God.

An interesting phrase which is loaded with assumptions we have as Christians. Yet, in the NT it is only in John 1 we see this phrased used.

Jesus as teacher.

Andrew and an unnamed disciple approach Jesus as teacher and rabbi. Many of start here but we cannot stay here.

Jesus is the Messiah!

We must learn to see Him as the Messiah. Now, I don’t think Peter, the unnamed disciple and the others understood fully the implications. Neither will we. But true discipleship always goes here.

What is Jesus saying to you?

Are you listening? Jesus is saying something to you this morning.
