1 So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, 2 complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. 3 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Sermon Title -

“Sharing The Mindset Of Jesus Christ”

Introduction -

The Apostle Paul writes this letter as an encouragement to the Believers at Philippi, including the ministers and pastors.

He informs them of the his love and thoughts which always brings him to a posture of prayer on their behalf. Paul reminds them that he is always pleased with their commitment to the proclamation of the message of God; the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Paul shares with them that he has complete confidence that God, who started His work in them, would finish it all the way to the end.

Paul also expresses his gratitude for their love and sincerity of heart with the Gospel and genuine love for Jesus Christ.

Paul lets them know that although he is in prison, the message of the Gospel cannot be stopped. In fact, the opposite has happened. The Gospel has increased in strength and spread even further!

Body -

(v. 1-2) The NIV puts it this way,

‎‎2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.

Paul uses the word “Therefore,” which would bring his readers attention to what he spoke of in the previous chapter. Where he wants them to appreciate this eternal relationship they have in Jesus Christ.

Now, he wants them to take what they have been taught and apply it all to their life!

He says in verse 5, “Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus.” In other words, now that you have all this information...It’s time for Transformation!

So, How do we “Share the Mindset of Jesus Christ?”

By simply living our lives as Jesus Christ lived His!

Colossians 3:12 ESV
Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,

So, this morning I would like to share with you three (3) ways we can live our lives as Jesus Christ lived his!

I. We Must Live Our Lives Unselfishly. (v.3-4)

Philippians 2:3–4 ESV
Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
Galatians 5:26 ESV
Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
Romans 12:10 ESV
Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.
Romans 15:2 ESV
Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.

II. We Must Live Our Lives In Humility. (v.5-8a)

Philippians 2:5–8 ESV
Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself...
Romans 15:3 ESV
For Christ did not please himself, but as it is written, “The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on me.”
Matthew 11:28–29 ESV
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

III. We Must Live Our Lives Obediently. (v. 8)

Philippians 2:8–11 ESV
...becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Conc.

Reward

Philippians 2:9–11 ESV
Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
