What does the culture/world have to say?
What does the culture/world have to say?
Life is about finding what makes us happy and
feel good
If sex does this then we should pursue it to the
fullest extent
We define what is right to us
I make the rules about sex
Sex is only a physical act
What I do now won’t effect my future
What does your life say about sex?
What does your life say about sex?
Some may have been exposed whether through a
relationship or technology
Some may have been steered away and told it is a
bad thing
What does the Bible say about sex?
What does the Bible say about sex?
Sex is between one man and one women in the context of marriage
Genesis 2:24–25 “24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. 25 And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.”
A husband shall hold fast to his wife, meaning cling or cleave to her, they are inseparable as God designed for marriage.
Hebrews 13:4 “4 Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.”
Sex outside of the marriage covenant is sin which incurs God’s judgement.
1 Corinthians 6:18–20 “18 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”
Sexual sin effects both our bodies and our souls. There are lasting consequences both in our bodies and our souls
Proverbs 5:3–5 “3 For the lips of a forbidden woman drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil, 4 but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword. 5 Her feet go down to death; her steps follow the path to Sheol;”
Proverbs 6:27–28 “27 Can a man carry fire next to his chest and his clothes not be burned? 28 Or can one walk on hot coals and his feet not be scorched?”
Continuing in sexual sin leads to physical death and spiritual death
It will burn you just as fire burns your clothes if you hold it to your chest
1 Corinthians 7 tells us that sex is an act of service to your spouse, it is not about your pleasure, but about serving your spouse
Romans 1:26–27 “26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.”
Same sex relations are not a part of God’s design and have consequences now physically and eternally
The Bible lays out that sex is designed for the covenant of marriage
