The God Who Weeps With Us

INTRODUCTION: Nail video? Men and women
CONTEXT - Women were distitue without a man.
John 11:17 ESV
17 Now when Jesus came, he found that Lazarus had already been in the tomb four days.
4 days signficant. - they thought the soul would have left the site at that point.
John 11:18–19 ESV
18 Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles off, 19 and many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to console them concerning their brother.
Scary - as we learned last week, Jerusalem Jews wanted to kill JEsus. (but this is what Jesus wanted)
John 11:20–21 ESV
20 So when Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went and met him, but Mary remained seated in the house. 21 Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.
Mary was emotional one, Martha was the practical, hard worker no nonsense, duty bound. I am MArtha, not Mary.
If you would have been here - How many times have we said similar things to God?
was anger in her voice?
John 11:22 ESV
22 But even now I know that whatever you ask from God, God will give you.”
Seems like this contradicts what
John 11:23–24 ESV
23 Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” 24 Martha said to him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.”
Seems likel
