Therefore let’s approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace for help at the time of our need.
PRAY
These are two terms we throw around a lot and use them interchangeably.
Understanding the meaning of these two words: Grace and Mercy can deepen our love for God
There is a difference between grace and mercy. God in his mercy does not give us what we do deserve, and God in his grace gives us what we don’t deserve.
Warren W. Wiersbe
Mercy: God’s Compassion
Mercy: God’s Compassion
But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our wrongdoings, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
Mercy brings Love and Compassion
We sin and deserve the worst, but God loves us enough and has mercy for us
So much so that He sent His only Son, Jesus to die in our place.
When you feel shamed and overcome with guilt because of mistakes, remember God loves you always. Even Then
In the same way, extend this love, compassion and mercy to others when they do wrong and fail.
Grace: God’s Favor and Gift
Grace: God’s Favor and Gift
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
O Believer, whatever life of a spiritual kind you have in you, today, was given to you by God! It was not yours by nature.
His Great Love, Volume 52, Sermon #2968 - Ephesians 2:4, 5
Charles Spurgeon
Grace is God’s undeserved favor.
Grace isn’t about holding out on punishment, it’s about blessing us because He loves us.
It’s this power that strengthens, prepares us, and allows us to serve Him the best we can
Remember that every good thing in your life is a gift from God. You don’t deserve it nor did you earn it
It’s given through Love and for His glory and service
Transforming Our Sinful Life
Transforming Our Sinful Life
Therefore if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.
Mercy deals with the consequences of our sin while Grace deals with the nature of that sin.
Mercy forgives the debt, Grace transforms the debtor. Mercy gives a clean slate, Grace writes a new story
Don’t just seek forgiveness of your sins. Allow God’s grace to transform you.
Let the Holy Spirit change and guide you
Pity and Power
And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.
To some, Mercy means pity. Grace, on the other hand, seems to be more powerful.
It’s something that allows us to live beyond the normal limits.
It helps us overcome enemies, sin, circumstances, and more.
When you feel weak, remember that God’s grace is sufficient. Trust in His power to sustain you.
Don’t rely on your abilities. Rely on His!
Expressions of Love
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life.
Both, grace and mercy flow from God’s love for us.
Mercy is love in action. Holding off on deserved judgment
Grace is love in action. Giving undeserved blessings
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.
We need God’s grace. We want His blessings and favor in our life.
We need to keep in mind the fact that God gives us Mercy. We do not deserve any of it, yet He gives.
I live in Jesus, on Jesus, with Jesus, and soon hope to be perfectly conformed to his likeness.
