Ephesians 1

Context

The Book of Ephesians was potentially not written for the church of Ephesus as the earliest copies do not include “In Ephesus”. The best theory we have is that this letter was intended for a wide audience and circulated to multiple churches include Laodicea according to Colossians 4:16

After this letter has been read to you, see that it is also read in the church of the Laodiceans and that you in turn read the letter from Laodicea.

“To Ephesus” may have been included later to reflect the letter;s first destination as Paul was in Ephesus during Acts 19:10

This went on for two years, so that all the Jews and Greeks who lived in the province of Asia heard the word of the Lord.
