Prayer

Now, we are going to memorize some things today. How good are y’all at memorizing things?? (Let them answer)
We are going to talk about prayer today. AS y’all know, we say a prayer everytime before our lessons, and I have asked y’all before how often you pray at home. So when you pray though, do you pray for the same thing over and over? Like “bless the Lord for this food”?
One of the biggest ways we get closer to God is by prayer. Thats why its so important! And its important that not only do we pray before we eat or before we sleep or before a childrens church lesson, but we pray on our own too anytime of the day. Cause the Bible says
Matthew 6:6 NLT
But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.
We are going to jog the prayer up for you guys. We are going to learn....and y’all are going to memorize....this tactic for prayer!
See my hand (hold it up) how many fingers am I holding up? 5! We are going to learn a tactic called “Five finger prayer punch”
( have the kids hold one hand up and open)
Each finger is going to be a reminder of things for us to pray for.
First one
Thumb: The thumb is closest to your heart, so pray for the loved ones close to you. Your mom, siblings, dad, grandparents, friends.
Pointer: This finger is used to give directions. So pray for the ones who teach you. Teachers, coaches, doctors, first responders, cops,
Middle: The middle finger is the tallest finger. SO pray for those in leadership! The government, leaders, pastors, church, business.
Ring: The ring finger is the weakest finger. So pray for those who are sick, hurting, lonely, and those most in need.
Pinkie: The pinkie is the smallest. Pray for yourself and what you need.
And heres the punch.....The Lord hears us when we call upon him. And the evil one hates it when we get closer to God. So we do not stop praying! We keep building up a relationship with The Lord by praying! We fight against the devils schemes when we go by ourselves and pray.
1 John 5:15 NLT
And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.
Matthew 21:22 NLT
You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.”
Psalm 145:18 NLT
The Lord is close to all who call on him, yes, to all who call on him in truth.
1 John 5:14 NLT
And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him.
1 Thessalonians 5:16–18 NLT
Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
Matthew 26:41 NLT
Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!”
Craft - the hand book. (Five colors, they have to only color the finger that matches what to pray for)
