-Finding strength in the truth.
1 Peter 1:1-9“Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who reside as exiles, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, who are chosen”
Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ,
To those who reside as exiles, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, who are chosen
according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to the obedience of Jesus Christ and the sprinkling of His blood: May grace and peace be multiplied to you.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
to obtain an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and unfading, having been kept in heaven for you,
who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials,
so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
And though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,
receiving as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls.
In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials,
This word greatly rejoice leads to two ideas
1. A building emotion that bares us along. Like a worker working for his pay or a boy waiting for a fish to bite. The rejoicing is what makes the trials passable.
2. An act that should be done over and over again. Like the command to pray without ceasing. The knowlage of the truth of the gospel leads us to change the way we view trials. So as not to think woah is me for I am afflicted but see that this test is our pureification and the plan of God for the redemtion of the world.
so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
Q. Our faith is to result in praise Glory and honor. When the christian is test what is in us comes out. Like gold placed in a crusable and heated untile the impuritys come out the be cleaned away. We see it in others Like a pice of fruit when pressed juice comes out. What kind of juice will be deturmend by the type of fruit and wether its good or roten.
And though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,
These men and women had not yet seen Jesus just like us the had heard the Word and by the word come to a saving faith. To many church are trying to make the bible and the gospel more palatable but the problem is the church is Jesus church and the word is Gods and we have no buisness massing with it. When we do we create another gospel and a fake church. The Church is supposed to represent Christ on earth. No, we do not see him. We see his representative in the church, and we hear his voice through the word of God the gospel. And believing in the representative in the gospel, we come to a saving faith and knowledge of God, which allows us to rejoice with a joy that is inexpressible and full of glory.
receiving as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls.
All that is summerised in this that the out come of our faith is the saving of our soul. All that God had planed was lost in the fall and all will be restored through Jesus redemtion.
Now It want to go back and look at one word TRIALS the greek is peirasmos- Peir-os-mōs.
Is used 23 times and is translated three ways temptation; test; trial
its a noun with two forms
An examination with the express purpose of producing or proving a fault in the examinee.
The act of examinging smothing closely (as for mistakes)
Nagitive and postive idea. The devil has asked to test you.
The change of prospective is where you are standing.
Now when a large crowd was coming together, and those from the various cities were journeying to Him, He spoke by way of a parable:
“The sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell beside the road, and it was trampled under foot and the birds of the air ate it up.
“And other seed fell on rock and as soon as it grew up, it withered away, because it had no moisture.
“And other seed fell among the thorns, and when the thorns grew up with it, they choked it out.
“And other seed fell into the good soil; and growing up, it produced a crop one hundred times as great.” As He said these things, He would call out, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
And His disciples began questioning Him as to what this parable meant.
And He said, “To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest it is in parables, so that seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.
“Now the parable is this: the seed is the word of God.
“And those beside the road are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their heart, so that they will not believe and be saved.
“And those on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy, and these have no root; they believe for a while, and in time of temptation fall away.
“And the seed which fell among the thorns, these are the ones who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with worries and riches and pleasures of life, and do not bear ripe fruit.
“But the seed in the good soil, these are the ones who have heard the word in an honest and good heart, and hold it fast, and bear fruit with perseverance.
“Now no one after lighting a lamp covers it with a container or puts it under a bed, but he puts it on a lampstand, so that those who come in may see the light.
“For nothing is hidden that will not become evident, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light.
“So beware how you listen, for whoever has, to him more shall be given; and whoever does not have, even what he thinks he has shall be taken away from him.”
Consider it all joy, my brothers, when you encounter various trials,
Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you.
