v. 27 |
The fear of the Lord prolongs life. The fear of the Lord is… the beginning of knowledge. This theme continues to pop up over and over but it is clear that those who acquire knowledge live in a wise and safe manner. Longman also states that the reason those who fear the Lord live longer is because they live according to the way that God has created the world. The added reverence for God is an understanding of how things ought to be.
Eternity as a prolonging of life.
v. 28 |
Joy -
What is the hope of the righteous?
What is the expectation of those who are wicked?
One of these are lasting and will stand the test of time while the other fades away.
v. 29 |
Is Solomon referring to someone who is literally without blame? It is the righteous, those who attempt to live as best as they can for the Lord. To live for Him is a place of safety.
How is the way of the Lord destruction for those who do evil?
v. 30 |
The righteous are unshakable. Rather, the one who is wicked will no longer dwell in the land or live.
The importance of a strong foundation to build on.
v. 31-32 | The mouth of the righteous utters what is both wise and what is appropriate (finding favor, acceptable).
The mouth of perverse will be cut off because it is perverse. It distorts what is true. It has not been used for its intended purposes.
