Hello, children. Today, I would like to teach about sin.
Sin is like pollution.
“Can someone tell me what pollution is?”
Hold up a clear cup of water
“Children, would you drink this?” Why?
Add some dirt to it
“Children, would you drink this?” Why?
“Sin is like this dirt. It pollutes our hearts and lives, making them unclean. The only good thing to do with this water is to put it down the drain.”
Bible verse- sin pollutes us
Bible verse- sin pollutes us
here is what the bible says about sin polluting our lives
Wash yourselves and be clean!
Get your sins out of my sight.
Give up your evil ways.
Sin is breaking the rules that God made, like punching your brothers or sisters or lying or stealing, but it is also making things dirty like this water.
Imagine a beautiful river (picture of a river on the slide). It was big and full of fresh mountain water. All the animals and people around it loved it. They would drink from it, water their gardens, fish, and even swim in the summer heat.
But then, one day, a cheeky little boy threw his cream egg wrap into the river. Then, someone threw a crisp bag and a big bag full of rubbish into the river, and everyone slowly started throwing the trash into the river. So the river became stinky, dirty, and disgusting (picture of a polluted river). The animals would not drink from it, there were no more fish, and children couldn't swim in the summer heart.
Children, I have a question: Who made the river dirty? (everyone)
Sin is the same: one lie, one bad choice, one selfish action, and it all slowly adds up, making us into like this dirty water,
We all are like this dirty water: disgusting, dirty, and full of sin
But I have some good news from the bible: the bible says
1 John 1.7
Christian Standard Bible Chapter 1
the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
Jesus takes away all our sins; he cleanses us.
Jesus is like a water filter.
We come to Jesus with all our dirt, pollution, and sin.
He takes all of us, puts all of us into himself (as I pour this dirty water into the water filter), and then cleans us by removing our dirt, pollution, and sin.
How?
How?
By taking it on himself, which makes us pure in him, we can drink the water again and be friends with God forever.
How can we stop sin from making our hearts dirty?
Saying sorry to Jesus and letting him clean us like this water filter.
So, children, have you said sorry to Jesus yet?
Has Jesus made you clean?
Has he taken away the dirt in your heart?
If not, let's ask him today, and you can have a clean heart.
lets pray
Jesus, sorry for the pollution we make in our own lives. Hurting our siblings, lying, stealing, and so many ways, we do things that hurt you. We are sorry. Jesus, we ask that you clean us like this water filter cleaned this dirty water because we want to be clean so we can be friends with you forever. Jesus can also help us stay clean from all the dirty things in this world. We love you, Jesus, but thank you for loving us more.
Amen
