ONLY OUR GOD

Aw we have all taken to our phones this morning to see what today has in store for us we have possibly looked at the weather app, maybe a TV app to see what shows are on after services, or if your a sports fan your looking to see who is making it into the Ladies March Madness NCAA tournament. Just as an update so you don’t have to look the first 4 Games are Wednesday.
Maybe your looking to see what time your Baseball team plays their season opener. For Baseball fans like me its Tuesday the 18th. So there are several things going on. Our President is making changes to how large the Government is, and Egg prices just keep going up and up. A whole fryer chicken prices is going up, but this is all just stuff of our interest. I want to ask you today what is really important in your life?
Is it your marriage, your children, your work, your time spent enjoying yourself, what is important in our lives today?
Please turn with me to Psalm 19:1-14
Psalm 19:1–14 NASB95
1 The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands. 2 Day to day pours forth speech, And night to night reveals knowledge. 3 There is no speech, nor are there words; Their voice is not heard. 4 Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their utterances to the end of the world. In them He has placed a tent for the sun, 5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber; It rejoices as a strong man to run his course. 6 Its rising is from one end of the heavens, And its circuit to the other end of them; And there is nothing hidden from its heat. 7 The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. 8 The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. 9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the Lord are true; they are righteous altogether. 10 They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb. 11 Moreover, by them Your servant is warned; In keeping them there is great reward. 12 Who can discern his errors? Acquit me of hidden faults. 13 Also keep back Your servant from presumptuous sins; Let them not rule over me; Then I will be blameless, And I shall be acquitted of great transgression. 14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.
Today I have entitled this passage Perfect Revelation Only Our God.
In the first 6 verses of this scripture we see God’s magnifcient Revelation in the way of a General Revelation. A general revelation is simply a revelation in which all people and creation are able to see understand and enjoy.
In this revelation we see some very critical works.
1st we see the beauty in GOD’s creation of the heavens and how this creative work shows the glory of God.
The sheer size and depth, height, width, breath, and magnificient colors of his creation reveal to us a small portion of who God is.
2nd we find though no words are spoken about the grandness of his revelation it still somehow speaks to us and reveals to us knowledge of His perfect nature and devine nature. these two verses verse 2 and 3 are silent but yet magnify and shout about the greatness of the one who created us in his own image.
Verses 4 through 6 describe the amazing work of the one who speaks and things become as he has spoken when before they were void and without form in a state of unruleyness or void chaocatic in nature
but in the same breath it speaks to the sheer omnepatience of our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ
Verses 7 through 10 tell us of all the amazing things God has done for each of us as only He can do those things. You and I can’t perfect the restoring of the soul, we are unable to change the mind of those who are in need of change, we are unable to make those who know him rejoice because of his love for us, and his graciousness to us
this word precepts what are precepts first they are general rules intended to regulate behavior
or they may be a set of guidelines in which information is provided according to those precepts or guidelines.
pure like that of honey from a honeycomb, or without addatitive. Everything we eat and drink in todays society has some type of addatitive. our meats have steroids to make them mature faster, our drinks have sugar or an artificial sweetner to make them taste a certain way. very few things are pure, however God says he shows us the pure un improved upon things that we might understand his goodness.. his desire for us to have revealed to us only the best most complete unmanipulated things for his creations. God compare these things to Gold in fact large amounts of fine Gold or pure Gold.
this passage closes with a meditation of the heart of those who are called by his name desireing to be acceptable in the sight of our living and perfect creator.
