Purpose of Discipleship at MBC:

The purpose of the discipleship ministry at Maranatha is to guide believers to live biblically and replicate faithful followers of Christ.

Matthew 28:18–20 “Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Colossians 1:28–29 “We proclaim him, warning and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone mature in Christ. I labor for this, striving with His strength that works powerfully in me.”

2 Timothy 2:2 “What you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, commit to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.”

The Why:

To equip believers for the work of the ministry by helping them grow in their knowledge of God and foundational truths about our faith.

The result will be to see believers honor the Lord with their lives and lead others to Him.

Colossians 1:9–10 “For this reason also, since the day we heard this, we haven’t stopped praying for you. We are asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, so that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and growing in the knowledge of God,”

Ephesians 4:12 - to equip the saints for the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ.

The How:

By transitioning are current ABFs to Equipping class.

The equipping classes will focus on spiritual disciplines and theology.

The Equipping classes will be offer in the fall and spring.

Will use ABF teachers will be used t help teach classes.

What about community? This is where our Connect Groups will offer biblical community.

The purpose of our Connect Groups is to Cultivating meaningful relationships as you care for one another and serve the Lord together for His glory.
