Jesus Anointed at Bethany

6 Now when Jesus was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, 7 a woman came up to him with an alabaster flask of very expensive ointment, and she poured it on his head as he reclined at table. 8 And when the disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, “Why this waste? 9 For this could have been sold for a large sum and given to the poor.” 10 But Jesus, aware of this, said to them, “Why do you trouble the woman? For she has done a beautiful thing to me. 11 For you always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me. 12 In pouring this ointment on my body, she has done it to prepare me for burial. 13 Truly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her.” Mattehew 26:6-13

We are two full weeks into Women’s History Month. A time we recognize the accomplishments and the contributions of women to our society. Its no secret that women have made great contributions and strives. Its a fact that 60% of post graduated degrees are now held by women.
Women have been our teachers, nurses, doctors, leaders. They have trailed the way wven when being denied equal status.
I believe everyone can testify that momma, big momma, auntie has played a significant role in our lives.
When we think of women history. Over the years, history has seen countless incredible women. We're talking about the kind of inspirational, powerful heroes who shook up the world as we know it. From women's rights activists and pioneers of racial equality to inventors, scientists, and world leaders, there are plenty of women throughout history who did the damn thing. So even though we're still often faced with blatant discrimination on the basis of sex, real progress has been made. For inspiration that'll drive you to make your own mark on the world, find inspiration in just some of the many women who shifted our culture in meaningful ways. Women have achievements in the arts, astronomy, exploration, sciences, performance arts, sports, politics and government.
Yet it is in Matthew 26 verse 6-13 and Mark 14:3-9 we see an act that will make history. Even though in these account her name is not mention we can rely on John to let us know her name was Mary. An act of gratitude, a gesture of praise has landed her in the historical account throughout all time. Every time this story is told will be in memory of her.
She brought her best, defied her critics and did what she felt she needed to do.
