4 Things To Consider When Battling Temptation

Being Tempted Is Not A Sin

Many times Satan will make you feel like you have yielded to the sin even though it’s just a temptation

Prepare Yourself Spiritually Before The Temptation

Matthew 4:2 “And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.”
Fasting and praying is so IMPORTANT!
It builds up the inner man!
Starving the Body is Strengthens the Spirit!
Matthew 17:21 “Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.”
***DON’T WAIT UNTIL YOU ARE TEMPTED TO TRY STRENGTHENING YOUR SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINE***
I KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE

Anticipate the Way Satan Tempts You

Matthew 4:3 “And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.”
Satan used a temptation that would most likely appeal to his greatest weakness!
No body knows you better than you!
If you know what you struggle with don’t do something that will feed it!
Sometime we help Satan by thinking we are strong.
Do your part by Minimizing the amount of temptations
DON’T PUT CONFIDENCE IN FLESH!!!

Consider the Consequences

Matthew 4:5–6 “Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.”
Satan wanted Jesus to jump without thinking of the consequences!
Just because you are saved doesn’t meant you get to do what you want!
Romans 6:15 “What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.”

7 Questions to ask yourself when you are tempted

How will I feel about this tomorrow?
Pleasure in sin for a season
How will this affect other people?
How will this affect my relationship with God?
How will I feel sharing this decision with someone?
How will this affect my reputation?
How will this decision affect my goals?
How will this affect those that look up to me?
