Does Bread Come with This?

When we choose to follow Christ, the Bible makes it clear that blessings follow that decision.
But let’s be honest—one of the first things we tend to think about is what we’re giving up. What will this cost me? What am I losing?
And while sacrifice is part of the journey, it's just as important to ask: What am I gaining?
Jesus Said count the cost
The answer? The blessing of the Lord.
Too often, we focus on the price of obedience but forget the promise attached to it. Just like when you order a meal and wonder, "Does bread come with this?"—we should remember that in God's Kingdom, blessings come with obedience.
Following Jesus isn’t just about what you let go of—it’s about what you step into.

One of the questions What does it mean to be blessed?

When we talk about blessing, we often think about material things, provision, and success.
Rooted in material wealth and personal success

But biblical blessing goes much deeper—it’s tied to God’s presence, our faith, and His purpose for our lives.

barak (בָּרַךְ) which means to kneel, to praise, to invoke divine favor, or to empower to prosper.

God’s Blessing Rooted in God’s favor, presence, and purpose
Blessing definition :Its is Gods presence and favor in your life and for a purpose
A blessing is God’s presence and favor in your life, and it always comes with a purpose.
God’s Presence: The true blessing is found in being in relationship with God, experiencing His nearness, guidance, and peace.
God’s Favor: It’s His gracious provision and support in our lives, not because we deserve it, but because of His love and goodness.
For a Purpose: God’s blessings aren’t just for our personal benefit—they are given so that we can fulfill His purposes, be a blessing to others, and bring glory to His name.
Abraham Story
one of the first times we see this word in the bible is abraham

One day Terah took his son Abram, his daughter-in-law Sarai (his son Abram’s wife), and his grandson Lot (his son Haran’s child) and moved away from Ur of the Chaldeans. He was headed for the land of Canaan, but they stopped at Haran and settled there. 32 Terah lived for 205 years and died while still in Haran.

Gen 12 :1 The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. 2 I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. 3 I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.
4 So Abram departed as the LORD had instructed
The father Terah makes his way to cannan
the lord tells abraham to continue the journey to cannan

1. The Promise to Abraham (Genesis 12:1-3, 15:1-6, 17:1-8)

God made a covenant with Abraham, promising: ✅ A great nation (Israel) ✅ Land (the Promised Land) ✅ That all nations would be blessed through him
This is the abrahamic covent
While he did become very wealthy
Gods hand , favor and purpose was on him
he would be a father of many nation and that God would bless them through him
this is where we come in

2. Fulfilled in Christ (Galatians 3:7-9, 3:14, 3:29)

6 So also Abraham “believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”
7 Understand, then, that those who have faith are children of Abraham. 8 Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.”[d] 9 So those who rely on faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.
Faith, not ethnicity, is what connects us to the covenant.
The blessing of Abraham extends beyond Israel to all nations through Jesus.

3. What This Means for Us Today

✅ We inherit righteousness by faith ✅ We are part of God's family and mission to bless the nations. ✅ The Holy Spirit is the sign of this new covenant (Galatians 3:14).

Psalm 103
A psalm of David.
1 Let all that I am praise the Lord;
with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name.
2 Let all that I am praise the Lord;
may I never forget the good things he does for me.
3 He forgives all my sins
and heals all my diseases.
4 He redeems me from death
and crowns me with love and tender mercies.
5 He fills my life with good things.
My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!
6 The Lord gives righteousness
and justice to all who are treated unfairly.
7 He revealed his character to Moses
and his deeds to the people of Israel.
8 The Lord is compassionate and merciful,
slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.
9 He will not constantly accuse us,
nor remain angry forever.
10 He does not punish us for all our sins;
he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve.
11 For his unfailing love toward those who fear him
is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth.
12 He has removed our sins as far from us
as the east is from the west.
13 The Lord is like a father to his children,
tender and compassionate to those who fear him.
14 For he knows how weak we are;
he remembers we are only dust.
15 Our days on earth are like grass;
like wildflowers, we bloom and die.
16 The wind blows, and we are gone—
as though we had never been here.
17 But the love of the Lord remains forever
with those who fear him.
His salvation extends to the children’s children
18 of those who are faithful to his covenant,
of those who obey his commandments!
