Three weeks ago we began speaking on Spiritual Warfare.

-Anytime we as a church speak on this, the enemy works double time. For me I have seen a lot this week BUT GOD IS RESTORING! I even have had physical pain, I have never experienced before.

-Let me encourage you, if you are going through the storm recognize its God pushing you to new levels!

Is there anyone in the House that wants to take about 10 seconds and praise Him for the storms this week!?!

Two Weeks: Shield of Faith and Belt of Truth.

Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”

FAITH SHIELDS US FROM ATTACKS AND THE BELT OF TRUTH HOLDS US TOGETHER.

LAST WEEK I SPOKE ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS.

WHEN YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE IN CHRIST, YOU GAIN BOLDNESS TO FIGHT YOUR SITUATIONS.

Paul writes about this Armor to portray the literal battle you are facing.

Ephesians 6:13–19 “Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel,”

Paul is intentional about writing the Helmet of Salvation and Sword of the Spirit together because when we recognize where the battlefield is we can learn how combat in it.

POINT 1: The Helmet of Salvation protects our mind and thoughts.

TODAY WE ARE TALKING ABOUT THE SPIRITUAL BATTLEFIELD.

THIS MIGHT BE A SENSITIVE TOPIC FOR SOME TODAY, I WANT TO ENCOURAGE YOU TO LOOK INTERNALLY. HOW DOES THESE FACTS MAKE YOU FEEL? IF WE AS A CHURCH DON’T TALK ABOUT THESE THINGS WE ARE NOT DOING THE FOUNDATIONAL CALLING WE HAVE WHICH IS TO DISCIPLE FIRST.

According to the National Science Foundation, the average person has about 12,000 to 60,000 thoughts per day, and 80% of them are negative.

This affects every area of our lives.

Marriages: for the last 10 years the CDC does a study on marriages of 25,000 couples. CDC states 48.4% of women and 48.8% of men they interviewed felt verbally abused.

Family: National Domestic Violence Hotline states 41% of children experience verbal abuse from a parent. 85% of children have engaged in verbal abuse towards a sibling.

SELF: 8.4% of adults (21 Million individuals) experience at least one major depressive episode annually.

Research shows that 95% of thoughts are repetitive, meaning that unless they are intentionally changed, they will continue reinforcing those negative thoughts.

SATAN USES THESE THOUGHTS TO GET his RESULTS…

Addiction

Lust

Jealousy

Pride

Victim Mindset

BAD THOUGHTS LEAD TO THE SIN IN OUR LIFE.

GOD CHARGES US WITH THIS….

Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

How do we fight in our minds?

We recognize salvation as our protection. It secures our eternal destiny and gives us confidence in our faith.

When you accept Jesus, you no longer are operating on your strength but you are tapping into winning over every situation.

John 10:28 “I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.”

Romans 8:38–39 “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Our Salvation is the fuel to remind us to renew our mind daily.

We recognize satan’s playbook in the mind is both Doubt and Deception.

Doubt: The enemy attacks our confidence in salvation.

All in scripture we see the enemy twisting the word to bring doubt.

The Garden of Eden Genesis 3:1 “Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?””

Jesus being tempted Matthew 4:3 “And the tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.””

How has satan placed thoughts of doubt in your life?

-keeping you from starting a new chapter.

-maybe using the past against you.

-justifying a sin your life.

Deception: The world tries to shape our thinking contrary to God’s truth.

Colossians 2:8 “See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.”

We combat doubt and deception by filling our minds with God’s Word 

Without the helmet, we forget who we are in Christ. BUT

Point 2: When you put on the Helmet of Salvation you begin to fight with Authority.

2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”

Luke 10:19 “Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.”

Are you ready to wage the war you are in with the authority of Christ?

CAN YOU GIVE ABOUT 10 SECONDS HERE AND begin to fight over your situation? (Clap your hands, Stand and Give Him Praise, or Simply Rest in His Presence)

We cast out any bad thoughts in Jesus name.

We give every thought of harm to you Jesus

We don’t let the times we have fallen short to sin keep us from walking out our lives in your Authority.

POINT 3: We put on the Helmet of Salvation by Receiving Christ as our Savior | Meditating on the Word |Taking every thought captive

Receiving Christ as our Savior

Romans 10:9 “because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

You can fight under the proper authority, if you haven’t accepted Him as your Saviour.

Meditating on the Word

Psalm 1:2 “but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.”

When we fill our mind with Scripture, we begin to resist attacks.

Taking every thought captive

2 Corinthians 10:5 “We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,”

It’s time for us to start Rejecting lies and replacing them with God’s truth.

Are you ready to wage the war you are in with the authority of Christ?

Today, it’s time to do something new. You have been attacked for your whole life in your mind but you are ready to fight with authority.

-Salvation first and foremost

-I am going to pray to allow the Spirit to show you your weaknesses and where you need to fight. I want to open these alters.

If you are struggling with a battle in the mind it’s time to lay it at the feet of Jesus!

Receive Power in the Holy Spirit!
