v. 1 | Honesty in business dealings
Incorrectly marked weights would be used to cheat others out of their money.
Not cheating people out of money
Not spreading false things in the workplace
Because it is an abomination to the Lord, this is a reminder that we are accountable to God in the conduct we have with others.
v. 2 | pride vs. humility
The opposite of honor comes for those who allow pride to creep in. Not even being full of pride but simply when it comes.
v. 3 | Integrity - living in accordance with what is right and true in one’s whole life.
Integrity guides in the right way.
Crookedness still guides but toward destruction.
v. 4 | pursuit of righteousness first.
Pointing back to verse one. You can’t take it with you. The day of wrath, all of that money won’t do you any good. But wrath is avoided if a person pursues righteousness.
