Memory from last week
Specific word we studied
One of the three question we asked
Today we are going to look at how MONEY, RELATIONSHIPS, JOB, SPORTS, DRIVING {FREEDOM} affected teenagers in the Bible. In some ways it brought them closer to Christ and in some it took them from God. For you we are going to ask one question tonight:
WHO DO YOU TRUST TO PREPARE YOU?

Sword Drills

Before we get there, we have an unsettled competition. If you do not have your sword, please come to the front and grab one.
Psalm 71:17–18 “17 O God, from my youth you have taught me, and I still proclaim your wondrous deeds. 18 So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim your might to another generation, your power to all those to come.”
Romans 6:13 “13 Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness.”
Proverbs 16:3 “3 Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.”
Genesis 37:1–2 “1 Jacob lived in the land of his father’s sojournings, in the land of Canaan. 2 These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was pasturing the flock with his brothers. He was a boy with the sons of Bilhah and Zilpah, his father’s wives. And Joseph brought a bad report of them to their father.”
2 Samuel 18:9 (DRIVING) “9 And Absalom happened to meet the servants of David. Absalom was riding on his mule, and the mule went under the thick branches of a great oak, and his head caught fast in the oak, and he was suspended between heaven and earth, while the mule that was under him went on.”
Genesis 39:5 (JOB & MONEY) “5 From the time that he made him overseer in his house and over all that he had, the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; the blessing of the Lord was on all that he had, in house and field.”
1 Samuel 16:11–13 (JOB) “11 Then Samuel said to Jesse, “Are all your sons here?” And he said, “There remains yet the youngest, but behold, he is keeping the sheep.” And Samuel said to Jesse, “Send and get him, for we will not sit down till he comes here.” 12 And he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy and had beautiful eyes and was handsome. And the Lord said, “Arise, anoint him, for this is he.” 13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers. And the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon David from that day forward. And Samuel rose up and went to Ramah.”
Genesis 39:11–12 (RELATIONSHIP) “11 But one day, when he went into the house to do his work and none of the men of the house was there in the house, 12 she caught him by his garment, saying, “Lie with me.” But he left his garment in her hand and fled and got out of the house.”
1 Samuel 17:48–49 (SPORTS) “48 When the Philistine arose and came and drew near to meet David, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet the Philistine. 49 And David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone and slung it and struck the Philistine on his forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the ground.”
Psalm 37:5 “5 Commit (GALAL) your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.”

WHO DO YOU TRUST TO PREPARE YOU?

Tonight we are going to look at DAVID & JOSEPH and ask the question, Who Do You Trust to Prepare You?
JOB (DAVID)
Middle School age of annointing
Significance of anointing
Did David have a popular job?
What determines the quality of your work?
What is the most uncommon characteristic to have in a workplace?
DILIGENCE/HARD WORK
Some people work for the dollar sign and other’s work to follow God’s design (Proverbs 6:6 “6 Go to the ant, O sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise.” )
MONEY (JOSEPH)
Genesis 39:5 (JOB & MONEY) “5 From the time that he made him overseer in his house and over all that he had, the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; the blessing of the Lord was on all that he had, in house and field.”
Joseph managed Potiphar’s home. In this managing he also received a paycheck and benefits.
What is the most important thing to do with money? —MANAGE IT
When it comes to managing money, what do you focus on first?
Tithe — Bills — Savings —
Malachi 3:10 “10 Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.”
Proverbs 3:9–10 “9 Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; 10 then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine.”
Managing money in the bank vs. managing money on credit/loan.
Why are we to be good managers of money?
