READ Phil 2:19-30.
Having just described the perfect servanthood of Jesus Christ, Paul now mentions two fine examples of men who exhibit that kind of servant-hearted quality.

Paul’s Helping Hands

Paul had many helping hands (Rom 16)
servants
patrons
fellow workers
willing to risk
fellow prisoners
beloved, mother, brothers, sisters
Who were Timothy and Epaphroditus?

Timothy

Timothy- a disciple/trainee to Paul
Paul’s “true son in the faith”
1 Timothy 1:2 “To Timothy, my true child in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.”
2 Timothy 1:5–7 “I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am convinced is in you as well. For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.”

trustworthy colleague

Epaphroditus

v. 25-28
worker- #1 worker
soldier- trained, dedicated, loyal, under authority
messenger-
Proverbs 13:17 “A wicked messenger falls into trouble, but a faithful envoy brings healing.”
Proverbs 25:13 “Like the cold of snow in the time of harvest is a trustworthy messenger to those who send him; he refreshes the soul of his masters.”
minister- noun and verb. those who bring what is needed

Application

our helping hands:
servants Board- Jon, Jim, Danny, Christian, Jeff
ministry leaders- Amy and girls, Katy/Misti, Musicians, Dana, Missions Committee
technicians- Jediah, Steve, Joseph, Marshall
greeters- Danny, Alyson
custodian- Jodi
be a number one worker
God has entrusted your life to you. be faithful to Him with it.
these traits were exemplified in Jesus
