Be Fed

People Are Hungry

Mark 6:31–44 NIV

Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place. But many who saw them leaving recognized them and ran on foot from all the towns and got there ahead of them. When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things. By this time it was late in the day, so his disciples came to him. “This is a remote place,” they said, “and it’s already very late. Send the people away so that they can go to the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat.” But he answered, “You give them something to eat.” They said to him, “That would take more than half a year’s wages! Are we to go and spend that much on bread and give it to them to eat?” “How many loaves do you have?” he asked. “Go and see.” When they found out, they said, “Five—and two fish.” Then Jesus directed them to have all the people sit down in groups on the green grass. So they sat down in groups of hundreds and fifties. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to his disciples to distribute to the people. He also divided the two fish among them all. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces of bread and fish. The number of the men who had eaten was five thousand.

The crowd- Literally hungry

A true physical need

Disciples View

See the need from a very human perspective

We need food...… a lot of food

Food costs money.......… a lot of money

They see the world with a horizontal point of view

Looking out they see the massive need

They see no provision

Give Jesus Advice

Their solution? Tell Jesus to send them away.

They come and say send them away so they can go to the surrounding villages and get something to eat.

John 14:6 NIV

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Jesus is the answer

So often we go to the answer to give Him the answer

YOU feed them!

John 6:4–6 NIV

The Jewish Passover Festival was near. When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do.

Jesus knew His plan from the start.

He was looking for their faith.

He knew they did not have the ability, but they know someone who does.

Their Response?

Horizontal- Flesh Half a years wages!

The answer is literally standing in front of them talking and yet they can’t think vertically.

They can’t think above them.

They see with earthly eyes

Memory Loss

How often in the face of the mountain do we forget the mountains we have already crossed because of Him?

Disciples just came back from mission trip where they were told to take nothing and yet they were provided for.

They have seen miracle after miracle

Demons cast out

Sick healed

Leppers touched and healed

woman healed just by touching His garment

A child raised from the dead!

Yet their unbelief continues- our unbelief continues

Jesus The Chef

Jesus sends them out to see what food their is

5 loaves and 2 fish

Confirming the disciples fears.

Not enough crumbs to feed that many people

Jesus separated the groups and said watch this!

Fed to Satisfaction

Jesus broke the bread and gave thanks and the disciples went out and fed the EVERYONE

Give your all and He will multiply

Jesus can do more with your little than you could ever do with your lot.

They were not fed to survival

Fed to satisfaction

The 6 months wages would have only provided the minimum

Jesus provided abundantly with leftovers!

Let Us Not Forget

Sometimes we don’t see the mountains behind us.

He see horizontally what is only in front.

Look up! Your redemption draweth nigh

Give It All To Him

What are you facing?

What mountain are you standing at the bottom of?

Finances, Relationship, Family, Job, Health

Stop telling Jesus what you are missing

Give it ALL to Him and let Him multiply

Let Him feed you!
