V.1-4

Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the benefit of circumcision?

2 Great in every respect. First of all, that they were entrusted with the oracles of God.

3 What then? If some did not believe, their unbelief will not nullify the faithfulness of God, will it?

4 May it never be! Rather, let God be found true, though every man be found a liar, as it is written,

“THAT YOU MAY BE JUSTIFIED IN YOUR WORDS,

AND PREVAIL WHEN YOU ARE JUDGED.”

The advantage of the Jew
They were entrusted with the Scriptures. Promises of God. This is the main reason Paul gives
Remember they are Yahweh’s covenant nation on the earth
Deuteronomy 4:8 NASB95
“Or what great nation is there that has statutes and judgments as righteous as this whole law which I am setting before you today?
Deuteronomy 7:9 NASB95
“Know therefore that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God, who keeps His covenant and His lovingkindness to a thousandth generation with those who love Him and keep His commandments;
Amos 3:2 NASB95
“You only have I chosen among all the families of the earth; Therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.”
2. Did unbelief of some Jews nullify Yahweh’s promises?
Paul responds absolutely not. There is no way Yahweh can go back on what He has promised.
Yahweh remains faithful to the end. To His Word. Even when the whole world is a bunch of liars that support each other Yahweh still remains true
Deuteronomy 7:9 NASB95
“Know therefore that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God, who keeps His covenant and His lovingkindness to a thousandth generation with those who love Him and keep His commandments;
1 Peter 4:19 NASB95
Therefore, those also who suffer according to the will of God shall entrust their souls to a faithful Creator in doing what is right.
Hebrews 10:23 NASB95
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful;
Romans 3:5–8 NASB95
But if our unrighteousness demonstrates the righteousness of God, what shall we say? The God who inflicts wrath is not unrighteous, is He? (I am speaking in human terms.) May it never be! For otherwise, how will God judge the world? But if through my lie the truth of God abounded to His glory, why am I also still being judged as a sinner? And why not say (as we are slanderously reported and as some claim that we say), “Let us do evil that good may come”? Their condemnation is just.
Is God unfair?
Of course not. He is judging unfaithful Jews, so His judgement is righteous.
2. Slanders raised and condemned.
Just because unfaithfulness on Jews part abounded to God’s truth does not give us right to sin so that this happens.
Those who question God judging are they themselves judged
Romans 3:9–18 NASB95
What then? Are we better than they? Not at all; for we have already charged that both Jews and Greeks are all under sin; as it is written, “There is none righteous, not even one; There is none who understands, There is none who seeks for God; All have turned aside, together they have become useless; There is none who does good, There is not even one.” “Their throat is an open grave, With their tongues they keep deceiving,” “The poison of asps is under their lips”; “Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness”; “Their feet are swift to shed blood, Destruction and misery are in their paths, And the path of peace they have not known.” “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”
