Our Response

How have you seen God move or work this past week?

Our Response

What's the best thing someone (outside of Jesus) has done for you?
How did you respond?
Have you ever a perspective or opinion on something, then something happened or you learned something that totally changed your thinking?
Has there been anything over the last weeks that stuck out to you that you knew or was something new?
Over the last 8 weeks we have been looking at some of the different names of God in Scripture.
We started with how God named Himself-
Yahweh - Jehovah
We then saw how God revealed Himself through creation and His Interactions
Elohim - Creator
El Roi - God who sees
El Elyon - God most high
El Shaddai - God almighty
We then moved to more personal and relational names
Jehovah Jireh - Lord our provider
Jehovah Nissi - Lord our banner
Jehovah Shalom - Lord is our peace
Knowing all we have known - it causes a response
That is the question what is our response?
Let’s pray.
2 Choices
When we come face to face with God
When we become aware of Him and start knowing Him
There are on 2 responses
The story of the Rich young Ruler
Mark 10:17–20 ESV
17 And as he was setting out on his journey, a man ran up and knelt before him and asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” 18 And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone. 19 You know the commandments: ‘Do not murder, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor your father and mother.’ ” 20 And he said to him, “Teacher, all these I have kept from my youth.”
In his mind he has got it made, except
Mark 10:21 ESV
21 And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”
Here it is - Face to face with God, the chance to truly know Him
Mark 10:22 ESV
22 Disheartened by the saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.
Response is no = go away and go sad
2 parts
But there is another option
Isaiah 6:1–3 ESV
1 In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!”
Talk about seeing God face to face
Isaiah 6:4 ESV
4 And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke.
Again there is a two part response:
Isaiah 6:5 ESV
5 And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!”
Respond with humility and worship
Isaiah 6:8 ESV
8 And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.”
Respond with making Him known
Isaiah 6:1 ESV
1 In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple.
The Lord lifted high
Lord - Adonai
Adonai - Lord /Master
Adonai
By calling God Adonai you are acknowledging His leadership (Lord) and ownership (Master) of you
He has every right to claim us
Colossians 1:15 ESV
15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.
Colossians 1:16 ESV
16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.
He made all things
He owns all things
Colossians 1:17 ESV
17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
Without Him everything fall apart
Colossians 1:18 ESV
18 And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.
He is in charge of everything

Adonai

W e cannot call Him Lord unless he is actually Lord
It is the only appropriate response when you truly start to know Him
Colossians 1:21–23 ESV
21 And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, 22 he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, 23 if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.
He has done all the work
He works things for our good and His glory
1 Corinthians 6:19–20 ESV
19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
Let God have your life; He can do more with it than you can. -D.L. Moody
