5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
7 He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.
8 By oppression and judgment he was taken away. Yet who of his generation protested? For he was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was punished.
9 He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth.
12 Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

Tell about the woman looking for healing and the pastor gave her this verse.
This verse is used a lot within some the more hyper-charismatic groups.
Spoken as a reminder of the physical healing we can find in Jesus.
Not that we can’t find healing in Jesus because we can, but we should not take the context out of this verses and make it so shallow as to box it into a temporal world when there is so much more to it.
This verse tells us of the complete healing that we now have, the healing that has overcome and destroyed the curse of sin.
Before the fall our bodies did not know the process of death and decay. There was no sickness, there was no pain, no aging and the effects of it.
6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
I love watching the sheep dogs work the flock when I am at the Highland Games. There is an on going tall tale one of the announcers loves to tell of a year when the sheep went astray and ran into the stands and started trying to attack and eat the fans.
Though that is a story, we are guilty of going astray and causing much evil just like in the tall tale, and if a flock did do that they would most likely have to be destroyed.
The Shepard of the flock loves them all and so he pays the price for them so that they can come home clean. He payed the price and suffered destruction in their place.
We all have this innate drive to do our own thing, to rebel against the statutes, will, directions of the Lord.
7 He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.
23 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.
How many times doe we want to defend our name when someone is telling their account of something that we went through, or when someone is just flat out lies.
There is also this drive to send their flavorful words back at them or even worse do what a call transmit a telegram upside their head.
Jesus had both the power and the authority to stop his insulator's, and strike them all dead at one word. But he didn’t, He intrusted the one who judges justly, He trusted the Father.
Who of His generation protested?
Thats easy for us to ask and say now, but ask yourself would you have risked it all to protest injustice such as this?
We live in a society that is full or protestors, and the offended. It is very popular now to protest something, any thing at all, unless it is in favor of the Lord then your just nuts, a radical, and an extremist.
An innocent man was killed, as v9 says he had done no violence, nor lied ever. He was given a death reserved for the worst of the worst.
He took on the punishment for most totally deprived which is each and every one of us.
12 Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
He made intercession for the transgressors.
I’ve been called a geek before so I tend to embrace it, this is one of the ways I embrace it is through looking up words. Last week I brought up this term of intercession and I want to bring it up again.
Intercession noun:
1. the action of intervening on behalf of another.
2. the action of saying a prayer on behalf of another person.
oxford dictionary
Jesus himself pled our case, It is though Jesus that any who submits to Him and accepts His gift can one day here the words acquitted.
Have you said yes to Jesus? if not why wait.
My take home question today is, what are some of the things that Jesus has interceded on your behalf for? Think of these things and go to Him in prayer with thanksgiving.
