Was is Resentment?
Resentment is generally described as a strong emotional response to perceived injustice or insult. It is often characterized as a form of anger, though typically less intense than wrath or indignation. Resentment can be directed towards actions, statements, or individuals, particularly authority figures. Some sources suggest that resentment stems from a love of worldly things and a lack of faith in God's plan. In interpersonal contexts, resentment may arise from feelings of unfair treatment or insults, and can lead to a desire for retaliation. Within religious contexts, resentment against God is sometimes seen as a consequence of unbelief or a response to adverse circumstances. In social settings, such as among church members, resentment can be dangerous and divisive, potentially arising from an inability to accept God's blessings on others. It's worth noting that some older definitions also included a now-obsolete positive connotation of "strong perception of good".
