Being lazy gets you nothing and doesn't glorify God

In many of the Proverbs it talks about people that are lazy accomplish little to nothing

What are the consequences of being lazy according to Proverbs?

Proverbs 10:4–5 KJV 1900

He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: But the hand of the diligent maketh rich. He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: But he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.

Proverbs 13:4 KJV 1900

The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: But the soul of the diligent shall be made fat. (Sluggard means lazy)

Proverbs 12:27–28 KJV 1900

The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: But the substance of a diligent man is precious. In the way of righteousness is life; And in the pathway thereof there is no death.

stay away from lazy people

Paul talks about withdrawing from “disorderly people

2 Thessalonians 3:6–7 “Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;”

do not walk in the counsel of the ungodly

Psalm 1:1 “Blessed is the man That walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor standeth in the way of sinners, Nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.” ,

The ungodly are not so: But are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: But the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Finally, do everything to the glory of God

If we are being lazy and Not doing work then are we really glorifying God? The Bible tells us to do every thing to the glory of God

Colossians 3:17 KJV 1900

And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

How does the sermon relate laziness to one’s relationship with God?

Colossians 3:23–25 KJV 1900

And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

Pray for help with laziness as well.

Take the steps toward God and productivity for Him

Our Purpose in life is to glorify Him. so why are we spending it glorifying this world and sleeping the afternoon away.
