God’s Process

RE-cap we left off with seeing Samuel goes to Jesse and there he would find the new king of Israel. We see how God covers Samuel by telling him step by step what to do.
We saw how God doesn’t look at the outward appearance and that God looks inward at the heart. God didn’t choose the tallest in stature and the oldest and strongest brother but he chose the youngest of the brothers. Sobering to know that God often chooses the ones we would over look to do the work of His kingdom.
Now well see how God slowly begins to put young David in the right place at the right time.
READ 1 Samuel 16:14-23
Verse 14, God had taken his hand of protection off of Saul due to his disobedience and had allowed a harmful spirit from the Lord to torment him. God does not create evil but he is in charge of all of it.
Verse 16, We slowly begin to see Gods orchestration in a very detailed way and we have to look at the small things to see how God makes things come together to put David in the right place at the right time.
Verse 17, Here goes God beginning to put the ball in play for David to be needed by the king , might we remember that none of this is by “coincidence” but by Gods divine plans for David. Saul needed something to sooth his anxiety so what do you know David just so happens to be able to play the harp really well.
Verse 21-23, David begins to play for Saul and immediately finds favor with Saul due to his ability to play the harp and it made Saul feel better. I find it interesting that Gods first step at David becoming king was him first serving the present King. How often is this true in our lives where Gods process for our lives doesn’t always make since and isn’t always glamorous.
