Mark 5:25–34 NASB 2020
25 A woman who had had a hemorrhage for twelve years, 26 and had endured much at the hands of many physicians, and had spent all that she had and was not helped at all, but instead had become worse— 27 after hearing about Jesus, she came up in the crowd behind Him and touched His cloak. 28 For she had been saying to herself, “If I just touch His garments, I will get well.” 29 And immediately the flow of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease. 30 And immediately Jesus, perceiving in Himself that power from Him had gone out, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My garments?” 31 And His disciples said to Him, “You see the crowd pressing in on You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’ ” 32 And He looked around to see the woman who had done this. 33 But the woman, fearing and trembling, aware of what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth. 34 And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace and be cured of your disease.”
This is the word of God for the people of God…
Are you ready for the message God has for us today?
Do you like a good sandwich? — Mark 5 is a good one!
Mark 5:21-43 is considered a Markan sandwich.
The healing of Jarius’ daughter — The Bread
Woman with hemorrhage — The meat

Jesus cared for the marginalized

For 12 years, the woman lived in the periphery of society. — Develop
I know what it is like to be an outcast — God was there
The woman had no community, she lost her community
People today are in desperate need of community!
Outcast — not good enough
Outcast because others don’t like them
The woman took a chance and came to Jesus.

Who touched Jesus?

Love the response of the disciples to Jesus question!
Jesus felt power leave Him — Mark 5:30
Mark 5:30 NASB 2020
30 And immediately Jesus, perceiving in Himself that power from Him had gone out, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My garments?”
The healing was immediate. — develop
Why was she afraid! — Jewish law Jesus should be considered unclean now
Jesus stops the crowd so they can hear her testimony of what happened!

Her faith made her well

Her faith, immediate healing — develop
If we come to Jesus in faith, our spiritual healing is immediate.
Ephesians 1:6–7 NIV
6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace
She was healed, saved from her disease
Touching her or her touching someone would be unclean
The effect would be Jesus ritually unclean
Even so Jesus calls her out and makes her act know
Jesu was willing to be identified with her uncleanness
We too can be saved from the disease, for us sin!
Jesus is willing to identified with us in our uncleanness to make us whole!
Like the woman we can be rescued from imprisonment from that which ailes us!
Conclusion
Come to Jesus and be healed, come in faith!
Jesus still cares for the outcast, the marginalized, those who live in the periphery of society!
